Hi!

Some days ago I sent a mail to wbaw asking about this, but I did not get any answers so I decided to make a new topic (because I could not find anything about this).

First, I would like to tell you that my Blade is my first phone with Android.

The main part of my mail was the following:

"I had a Gen1 ZTE Blade originally, but I wanted 2.1+ android. I found Cyanogenmod which had 2 versions that time, Gen1 and Gen2 (can't really remember the exact versions, but something like 7.0.1). I installed the one for Gen1 (following a guide on this site), but when I started the phone, the touchscreen was unresponsive. I thought it may be because of Gen1 and then I found your converter, applied it, installed the Gen2 Cyanogenmod. I still had the issue. That's when I found leromarinvit's kernel patch that was intended to solve this issue. I applied the patch using CWM and after a reboot everything worked fine, but when I wanted to type my PIN code, the screen was unresponsive again. That was when I tried SS RLS5, but it was the same so I started using CM nightlies. I used N63 and when the phone rebooted, I just took off the battery. Finally I read your post that the newer CM nightlies have the fix and tried N75 (SIM card bug), then N76 (same), then N74 (worked, but touchscreen issue again) and somehow N73 was OK. No matter how many times I restarted the phone, it worked.

Today I read that the newer CM nightlies are better (battery, etc.) so I did a full wipe as usual (format /system, dalvik and cache, full system wipe in CWM), installed N78, but it had the touch bug. After this I started struggling with different ROMs. I installed your v5 converter to upgrade my v3, installed SS RLS5 again, it worked. I thought it's because of the v5, so I tried (after a full wipe as always) CM N78 again, it did not work. Now, SS RLS5 and N73 had the bug as well after some restarts (or 1). After some reinstalls somehow CM N77 worked, but forgot to install google apps so I went into CWM, installed them, but then the issue came back."

After writing the mail I installed SS RLS5 because it is more stable, I do not have to restart the phone.

Sorry, if I overlooked something, but I tried to do everything according to the guides on this forum. :P

Thanks in advance, I appreciate every bit of help,

fema

Edit: Just to clarify, I still have the issue, even on SS RLS5.

Hi fema,

I'm sorry but I got a bit lost reading your post. Have you installed Swedish Spring RLS5 and still have touch screen problems? Or is everything working fine now?

If not, reboot into recovery, Factory reset the phone, wipe the cache, then go to advanced and wipe the Dalvik cache, then re flash Swedish Spring.

You should have zero issues with Swedish Spring, if you are then I suggest your hardware has an intermittent touch screen fault, this fault only seems to affect older handsets but I could be wrong. If the re flash doesn't solve the problem then return the handset for a replacement.

Regards, Anil.

Thank you for your reply.

Sadly, I have the problem on SS RLS5 as well as on CM7. The method you suggested I tried countless times, but no use. (Format /system, dalvik, factory reset, install zip from sd card...)

By the way, in case I had to have it replaced, after I reset everything back to the original settings, will they know I've done things to the phone?

Edit: On a sidenote... The worst is that sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. If I start rebooting the phone many times, after some tries the problem will come again.

I converted my phone back to Gen1, restored the official ROM and started constantly turning it on and off to reproduce the problem. I did not have a single touchscreen issue in about two hours.

I decided that it may be because it is Gen1 so I installed SS RLS5 as Gen1. Needless to say, on the third restart the screen was unresponsive again. I restored stock again, it works.

Now I really do not have any more idea. I cannot say in the store that I want to replace my phone because it can not handle custom ROMs so I guess I will have to find the solution, but it just does not make any sense to me that sometimes the phone just boots incorrectly. (But I really want to use either SS or CM because they are like 100 times better than the stock ROM.)

Anyone any ideas, please? :P

Thanks,

fema

Edit: One more idea: I use CWM 3.0.1.4. Is it OK? I don't know for sure, but I think I read it somewhere that this is the version I need.

Try reconverting back to gen2 (tpt method)

and using the

"softbank stock kernel" (Its a seperate flashable zip for SS) in the main post

7 turn off - turn on and 8 reboots and everything is fine. It seems you made my day. Thank you very much. :P
