Hello, my friend recently gave me his Pulse when he got new phone. I want to get it unlocked so I can use my current SIM with it but he installed Cyanogen mod so I need to revert to the basic rom. Can anyone give me some help on doing this or point me to a good tutorial? I should say I have almost zero knowledge about how to modify android, although my friend has shown be a few basics.

Thanks for any help.

Look just above in the list of pinned topics. You'll see the Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide. There is good information in there on how to do exactly what you want.

(or click on the link in my signature to get there)

Thanks, not sure why I didn't check that. The link for the 'official 1.5 downgrade file' doesn't work though :P

You dont need 1.5 , You can use official UK 2.1 rom.

Ok, does it need to be a 'downgrade file'? And do I still need the december update?

wait wait wait

in which way, do you think, the original rom may help 0_0

if you want to break the operator lock, you should just buy an unlock code... if i understand the problem right..

But once I've got an unlock I need to input it. When I insert a SIM card the phone doesn't register it at all so I can't input the code. It was mentioned in this thread that Cyanogen is the problem.

So, I'm following the guide here but which files do I need to download/install? Thanks for the help people :P

i gues you want to install official 2.1 so in the begin of that page it says returning to official 2.1 so that one !

Ok, does it matter that I'm going down (from cyanogen to 2.1) rather than going up (from 1.5 to 2.1)? Can I use the same file?

the CM roms dont give u a pop up box asking for unlock code when you insert another sim, u require a 2.1 rom for the popup box :P

Thanks for all the help people, its been really useful. I'm going to borrow my friends SD card reader tomorrow and I'm pretty confident it'll all go smoothly.

Hi,

I'm with same problem, my u8220 has Cyanogen mod, so it doesn't shows message box for input unlock code. I need to downgrade to a 2.1 ROM, but link from:

Installing the Official 2.1 Update

http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...e/#entry1318835

is dead. Where can I get this file? I just found a file called U8220V100R001C85B836SP01.zip in T-Mobile servers, but I think it's just an update from 1.5, How did you do this UFlapjack?

Thanks!

^^

You want the first entry, 'Installing the official 2.1 rom' The link is in the post. It worked perfectly for me, it doesn't seem to matter whether you're going up or down so to speak. The only thing that gave me a problem was that I put the folder containing the update into my root directory, not the update itself :D

I'm sorry, where? I only can see "Installing the Official 2.1 Update" (in my last post, I wrote "Returning to the Official 1.5 Update", but link was correct), and this post has this link:

http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=12931X7031...%23entry1318835

And this link is dead :S

Is this file that you downloaded?

Thanks!

Not sure where you got that link from, the correct one is in the second post on that thread, its the only download link.

http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/library/TMOB...20Android21.zip

This is the correct link and it works for me.

EDIT: the copy&pasted link doesn't work but the one in the thread does. Curious.
