Guest me00lpw Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 When I have low space (I.E. less than aprox 20.8 MB), I I get sent a text message I receive a messing telling me the text won't be delivered due to low space. I know there are things that can be done to get more space, but my issue is that even with 20MB of space (enough for 100's of SMS messages), delivery is denied and some messages en up never being delivered. How do I get around this? It's a serious flaw!

Might I assume you are running a Stock ROM (you haven't changed the phones firmware at all) (this excludes app downloads from the market/web) EDIT: Nope, looks like you've got a 2.2 which is most likely unofficial considering you are considering an upgrade to 2.3 You could always try changing your messaging app. Is it possible your data partition isn't big enough (dudes, help me out here :P) Edited May 24, 2011 by Mushroom_Lord
Guest me00lpw Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Hi, Yes I'm using a modified 2.2, but I couldn't tell you which, other than Kernel is 2.6.32.9-perf and build number is FRF91. I didn't perform the original update, but I am preparing for an update to CM7.0.3 (because there are so many ROM options and this one appears popular). Thanks
Guest me00lpw Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 OK, so I've now upgraded to Cyanogen(Mod) 7.0.3 and it looks like in this ROM there is a solution for the problem I was having. From the main desktop: Menu Settings CyanogenMod Settings Performace (OK to the warning) Lock messaging app in m(rest illegible) - TICKED Looks like this should do what I want, but I now have lots of free space so it may be some time before I get anywhere near having the same problem again.
Guest Monkeyface66 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 "Lock messaging app in memory" ...looks like this should do what I want No, that is something else. Your messaging app does not get closed by the system if you don't have enough free RAM. It will be protected so that you can't loose any messages by accident.
Guest me00lpw Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Thanks Monkeyface66 Any ideas on my original problem (even if I now have over 100MB free and it's not such an issue!).
