Bricked CM7? Skateboarding Android - Grrr

I've been running CM7 n57 for a couple of weeks without any problems (very occasional reboots etc but nothing to speak of).

Today whilst browsing the net (on H/3G) the phone rebooted and is now stuck on the Skateboarding Android.

I've tried:

leaving it (an hour)

battery out and power on

battery out power on with menu & volume up (power on & volume for TPT have never worked on my phone)

Taking out SD card

Taking out SIM card

Connecting USB

Searching the forums...

All I get is the skateboarding android.

Is my phone truly bricked or is there anything I can do?

WIPE! MAKE A NANDROID BACK UP FIRST.MAYBE U CAN TRY TO RESTORE JUST THE DATA AFTER INSTALLING A NEW NIGHTL!!

I have everything backed up but I can't get into TPT or Rom Manager to restore...

...just that blasted Android on a skateboard, laughing at me! :P :rolleyes:

ps the hardware keys work - eg the volume key beeps when at max volume; the charge LED comes on; the PC beeps when connected to USB...

did u get into recovery(volume down+menu+power on)?after u wipe then flash another nightly!

Nah. No Recovery.

I get Green Android. Then bit of haptic feedback and Blue Android arrives on skateboard. Then screen brightens with sparkly arrow going round ad infinitum....

This is regardless of whether the SD card is in the slot or not.

u should better turn on the phone with the sdcard in! but again how u cant get into clockworkmod recovery?

Agreed. But all the other problems on the forum seem to consist of a blank screen or some form of ClockworkMod Recovery...that's what's got me scratching my head :P

All I can get is the Blue Cyanogen Android on a skateboard.

I can't get into recovery mode...I'm gutted because I love this phone (and the forum).

If anyone has any other possible rescues?

It's not like I can even send it back to Orange because all you can see is that blue skateboarding CM7 logo loading...

Try go into bootloader and reflash recovery.

do u have gen1 or 2?converted with wbaw´s converter or tpt flashing or windows method?dont worry there should be a way;) ju give here any information about ur phone! if u have a gen1 then just put a stock rom to ur sdcard naming it ´image´ then power on holding vol +

Well, left it on and charging overnight just to see if anything would change and it's still stuck.

The phone WAS gen1 but converted using wbaw(?) 1step cm7. I have used rom manager for all my other roms and updates but this time needed to use the menu-vol-power keys to install the cm7 rom. Which then worked fine for weeks.

I have to use three buttons to get to recovery usually but the phone is ignoring me with this problem, so far.

I tried with putting a CM7 image in a folder called 'image' on the root of the sd card but nothing changed...still boots to that damned logo and then stuck.

I can't get into the wiki fastboot instructions at the moment but I'll have a go from work.

I'll try what you say and create a stock rom on a different SD card and see what happens.

Not being able to get in to recovery mode is really bugging me.

I tried TPT one last time before setting off for work AND IT WORKED!!! :rolleyes:

Reinstalled CM7 and now just got to restore everything. :P

Don't know why the usual solutions wouldn't work before but again thanks for your patience and support!!!

Why didn't anyone suggest to try "adb shell"? Once the animation is playing, adb typically works, and using it you can get lots of debug information such as what processes on the phone report problems, etc., which also gives some more insight in the problem than the Windows approach of "just reinstall everything" :rolleyes: .

Thats called Bootloop.

When bl happens restore it or flash it again.
