Guest oo03sjw Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 What about the Sammy Galaxy Tab @ £250 is that a good Tab, spec, price etc?
Guest Maringer Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) What about the Sammy Galaxy Tab @ £250 is that a good Tab, spec, price etc? The Galaxy Tab isn't half bad. Here's a decent review: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4062/samsung...ndtech-review/1 I'll probably go the tablet route in a year or two when cheaper dual-core devices are available. Honeycomb and its successors ought to improve the user experience somewhat. Edit: Scratch that. It appears that the one on offer from Carphonewarehouse is the WiFi only model. Here's a recent review of that model: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4302/battle-...r-vs-galaxy-tab Still pretty decent but with a less powerful GPU than the original Tab. Amazon appears to be selling this one for about 20 quid more than CPW. Edited May 26, 2011 by Maringer
Guest KACE_231 Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 SE Xperia X10 looks rubbish considering the reviews, unless you can put a modified ROM on it

Are you sure it shows as SIM Free and also as '3G ready for on the go internet from your mobile network' isn't that mobile as well as Wifi? Thanks.
Guest KACE_231 Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 You can, it has CM7. Where exactly can I find this?
Guest Maringer Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Where exactly can I find this? It's on XDA
Guest Maringer Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Are you sure it shows as SIM Free and also as '3G ready for on the go internet from your mobile network' isn't that mobile as well as Wifi? Thanks. Let's just say I'm rather sceptical about the accuracy of some aspects of that web site. The site also claims that it has a Super AMOLED screen when the Tabs actually have TFT screens. To be honest, I think it's a reasonable enough deal, whether or not it is the 3G or WiFi only Tab. Maybe worth phoning them to check if you want to use a SIM in it.
Guest cmberry20 Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Its a shame the LG Optimus 1 has a poor screen res. Its a pretty good phone with great battery life. For £75 its a damn good buy. Definately not worth £150+

Guest Pelemane Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 What about the Sammy Galaxy Tab @ £250 is that a good Tab, spec, price etc? Vega is better and it costs only £199. There is some custom roms to it too. (CM7 and buggy 3.0 etc.)

Guest Maringer Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Vega is better and it costs only £199. There is some custom roms to it too. (CM7 and buggy 3.0 etc.) The rubbish quality screen is what has put me off the Vega, also the aspect ratio to some extent. I'm waiting for a 4:3 aspect ratio IPS (or AMOLED) screen with dual core CPU running Honeycomb (or lce Cream Sandwich) costing less than 200 quid. Perhaps I'll be able to treat myself with such a device around Christmas time... :P
Guest Pelemane Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 The rubbish quality screen is what has put me off the Vega, also the aspect ratio to some extent. They are equal to Galaxy tab. But Vega has bigger screen. I'm waiting for a 4:3 aspect ratio IPS (or AMOLED) screen with dual core CPU running Honeycomb (or lce Cream Sandwich) costing less than 200 quid. Perhaps I'll be able to treat myself with such a device around Christmas time... :P Yeah that would be awesome but you have to wait a while for that.
