Guest jonoc Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Hi There I'm new to this game so please bear with me I have an orange san francisco unlocked using a tesco sim card. The build number ends with OB10. I would like to get rid of all the orange rubbish by installing a custom rom Unfortunatly I am unable to download from the apps market (it just says starting to download and gets no futher). I have tried for two days to solve this using all the tips i could find. The first thing the guides say to do is download ask mr pigfish. I can't do that. Is there any other way of finding out what gen my phone is. I think I can download all the other required files on my PC. PS the internet access is OK YouTube works perfectly
Guest slitz Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 If you purchased the device within the UK new, then it's most likely a Gen 1 I believe.
Guest flshg Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Yep, its very likely to be a gen 1 if bought as new from orange. If you want to make sure, there's a link to download the app onto your computer, extract then transfer it onto your phone (e.g. bluetooth or usb) and install: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ask-mr-pigfish/ (use the 'attached file' option to download the 'rar' version, and extract it using whatever archive utility might be on your computer e.g. 7-zip), then transfer to your phone. It should be safe to continue even without using mr pigfish, assuming you have downloaded all the other items in your guide.

Thanks guy's Mr pigfish agrees with you guy's and said its a gen1 phone This phone should be marketed as the worlds hardest puzzle. Now I cant get the green andriod man to stay on so I can root the phone. Power off. Battery out. Battery back in. Power on with volume plus pushed in. Phone boot up as normal I can see I could be busy for a few weeks
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Use a TPT method of installing your Custom ROM. It is MUCH easier :P Plenty of guides (which are very brief, as they only need to be brief) in the ROMS and ROM customization setion

It is MUCH easier  Plenty of guides (which are very brief, as they only need to be brief) in the ROMS and ROM customization setion But you learn more by doing this the 'proper' way: rooting, installing recovery, flashing rom :P Recommend you use japanese jellyfish or swedish spring as your first rom.

If he wants to do it the "proper way" he can. But really all it is is a bit harder. (ps rooting isn't a necessity when flashing a ROM.) Tpt lets you do it all in one go, quickly and easily.

Getting the basics going won't take long, playing with roms and new versions is kind of addictive though and can't see myself stopping that for more than a few weeks.
