By specifications Xperia is better. It also has a bigger screen, so if you want a better phone with a bigger screen, go for it. If the OLED you have has no faults like the one with a blue flicker when the phone is cold, you could sell it well. I personally wouldn't worry too much about the LCD, it has its advantages, like more natural color reproduction (unless you prefer intensive colors on OLED) and also a sharper screen, reading text for example is better on a LCD. I would also take into a consideration Xperia comes from a reputable manufacturer as opposed to ZTE, which in my opinion is still not the most reliable brand. I speak from personal experience, because my phone is faulty. It has that blue thing I mentioned.

Oh and if Xperia is new, you get more warranty now, compared to Blade I guess..

Get the Xperia X10 off your friend and sell off the OLED Blade before the price drops, I'm guessing it'll be quite soon now that people have discovered the Ideos X5. Or you could look into that, but I have a feeling the Ideos X5 probably won't get an official 2.3 release anytime soon.

Anything with less wait time is good provided your friend has the X10 in hand.

even if the ideos x5 doesn't get an official upgrade I'm sure, if it is unlockable then it would have atleast a custom 2.3 ROM, I suggest you hold into the blade and wait till summer for future releases. The ideos x5 looks very promising

Aye, but most people I've spoken to seem to detest the Ideos X5 and praise the Xperia X10.

I reckon people think it's all up to the clock speed, and now I'm surprised people aren't thinking the dual-core devices are bad because they have a lower clock. People really are strange sometimes.

Now if you're wondering, I do not think dual-core devices are bad. I do however think choosing a first generation Snapdragon over a second generation Snapdragon is a odd choice, but people have their valid reasons for doing so right?

Just think if you'd prefer a larger screen, better camera and a known brand or a newer processor and more ram with a lesser known brand. Yes, this is a bit biased and probably inaccurate but this is what I see in my opinion; it's up to you if you want to follow it. :P

It seems like it's always some other Xperia device catching us out, I recall it was the Xperia X10 Mini Pro and the OSF for me originally. I ended up getting the OSF since the community was a lot better.

I guess the Xperia X10 is cheaper, either device will be an upgrade to the OSF.

The phone is from the carphone warehouse sale and i can have it for what he paid (£150) seems like a good deal but id have to go back to 2.1 and wait for the 2.3 update.

People seem to be misunderstanding the power of processors, It goes:

Dual-core>>>>> 2nd Gen Snapdragon>> 1st Gen Snapdragon>>> OSF Processor

The 2nd GEN processor in the Ideos x5 though clocked lower is probably more efficient and faster/better optimized for android 2.3+

The only real advantage of the Xperia is the better camera, and slightly larger (by 0.2") screen. They are both roughly the same price as of now

I went from OLED Blade to X10 and am now back with a TFT Blade (Mrs Finbaar has the OLED). My second hand X10 had a faulty motherboard, a very common problem, but as this one is new and you should have the receipt/warranty then I would say get it as it knock the spots off the Blade. Faster, MUCH bigger screen, flash and nice build quality (exept the motherboard!). Mind you it must have a custom ROM and I recommend FreeX10 2.2 as the 2.3 ROMs are not as good as the Blades yet. I was tempted by the CPW offer but I am out of contract in October so I might as well wait now and then get the iPhone 5 as I cant see any Android device getting close to this baby- and it has the advantage af being made by Apple THE best company in the world..

Joking.

It will either be down the road of another cheapy (Skate or X6 (X5 screen is to small) or maybe secondhand DHD) or get a SGSII or Sensation. Although if the LG 2X is the right price I would get one LG 3D anyone?.

The x10 has less RAM than the Blade. How that translates into real world performance I do not know.

Personally I'd stick with the blade, I've previously owned an X10 and they are pretty sluggish phones. also they like to break a lot.

More RAM = more apps can be left running in the background, frankly for an android phone I would have though that 512Mb is ideal

I think the sluggishness is partly down to the ROM, in reality the xperia x10 is DHD with a rubbish ROM. If CM7 was officially made for it then...

Desire HD has a 2nd gen processor, with adreno 205 which is twice as good as adreno 200 found in OSF and Xperia x10, also the DHD's proc itself is much better than X10's 1st gen snapdragon. I think X10 is much closer in performance to OSF than DHD.

I think I agree with you here: but. its a Nexus S wannabe

I'd say the Nexus S looks more like a curved iPhone 3GS, but the Ideos X5 has a front shape similar to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro minus the slide out keyboard.

The overall design looks similar to a Playstation Portable (1000, 2000 and 3000 but not the Go), so it should theoretically feel pretty nice in hand when held in landscape.

Might be more ergonomically friendly rather than eyecandy.

i think that has a big impact because i can remember to people saying with 256MB blade that performance increased by huge amount after they flashed the firmware to get the full 512MB

also i think the blade has only lowend hardware but the mix is why its still a decent phone

there are many "more powerful" phones out which have to low memory to crap screenresolution or a bad performing outdated android OS version available which make them not really better

http://www.glbenchmark.com/compare.jsp?ben...%20X10%20Xperia

for xperia its low ram and only adreno200 and a 65nm first gen snappdragon
