SmartExplorer Alpha version **ALPHA 2 available. See p3**

Due to several email messages, I decided to post this alpha version now. The application is not yet finished, but most basic features are available. But keep in mind it's an alpha version. It shouldn't freeze your phone, but bugs may appear within some functions. Some keep this in mind please.

Here are the available features:

- As it's not possible to do select several items at a time in Smartphone 2002, I've used a workaround in SmartExplorer. You can indeed (de)select an item by using the menu command or pressing the * key. Selected items appears in bold.

- To deselect all items, you can use menu command or press #

- To cut the selection, menu command or key 1

- To copy the selection, menu command or key 2

- To paste the selection, menu command or key 3

- To paste shortcuts, menu command or key 4

- You can open a file or run an app by pressing Action key

The following function are also available:

- Delete files or folders

- Send a file as mail attachment. Unfortunately, only one file at a time.

- All other function available in the menus are not implemented or deactivated because not fully tested.

Known bugs:

- Shortcuts are displayed without the small arrow

- Shortcuts to folder have bad icon. It seems that Smartphone 2002 doesn't support shortcut to folders. If you try to open a link to a folder, you always get an error. I will verify if I'm right and remove to ability to create such shortcut if not supported.

it's twice as usefull as the allexplorer program i had to pay for!

When you have finished this all-explorer will be redundant

that's the one thing that lets all-explorer down the speed.

Thanks to all the developers who have been working in their spare time to help us realise the true potential of the SPV.

Any rollout of software, whether beta or alpha should be encouraged and if criticisms are posted then they should be contstructive in nature.

Keep up the good work and please rest assured that there are people out there who truly apreciate the endevours of all you devleopers out there.

Just found one possible bug.

Using the app I put the phone down for a few minutes

then the auto lock came on, this then hung the phone with

the background on the top half of the screen and the app screen

on the bottom half with the windows "working" icon just spinning round.

Left the phone for about half an hour but still no joy.

Only fix at the moment is to remove the battery.

Any ideas??

Will try tonight. Let you know. Maybe a bug when the app is asked to sleep. May I ask you a few questions: did the phone go into sleep while the app was retrieving a big folder or copying files? The "working" icon is only used during these operations. Did you install DK update?

Looking fwd to IR file transfer!! Emailing works fine already! BTW Jacoch, does SmartPhone OS not support multiple file attachments or is it to be implemented in future releases? Ermmm.. I still use the s***ty AllExp to rename files - hehe :)

The APIs are documented and seem to support multiple file attachment. But I have not been able to make it work. There is a lot of areas in the SDK where functions are documented but not working well. Some other are documented, but a small line at the end tells "not working for Smartphone 2002" or the help file just display "Function not implemented". So it's not always easy to realize things that are working fine for several years on Windows. Always have to find work around. But before searching more on this problem, I prefer finishing other functions such as file renaming and properties.

I have found today a bug with the shortcut creation. It seems that the function I'm using is not creating it well. Will try to fix this in next release. Thank you all for your feedback.

First off, No I forgot to close the app when I put the phone down, then when I picked it up and pressed a button it changed from a blank screen (screen saver) to what I mentiond above.

Yes I do have the DK update.

The only time I noticed it being slow was when it was accessing the main Windows folder, but I did expect that.

PS I noticed the creating shortcut problem as well :)

Hi ya, love the smart explorer.

A lot quicker than All explorer which i must admit i purchased and did love until now.

I can't seem to send an attachment via email ?

It puts the file into the email form, but when i send and receive it doesn't go anywhere.

Just tells me to check network coverage and my mail settings.

They are both fine, as i already send and receive all my email on there.

I must admit tho, i also bought AI Album which i also think is a top app, but the photo sending from there does the same sort of error message.

Any ideas people ?

I can send text only emails all the time.

Is it a header size setting or something possibly ?
