Guest Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 My Desire Z came with the 1.34 firmware on it, so I didn't have to downgrade in order to permroot, S-OFF, install ClockworkMod, and all that jazz. That's all done. I've done a Nandroid backup in Clockwork and copied it to the PC, just in case. I don't plan on installing a custom ROM just yet (although I'll probably switch to CyanogenMod in the not-too-distant future), so I'm currently still using the regular Sense ROM that came on the phone. It's detected an available system update, so there's a constant "Tap to download the system update" notification in my tray. My question is, if I let the phone download and install that update, firstly is it safe considering the modifications I've made, and secondly will it undo any of those modifications? (e.g. un-rooting the phone, or setting it back to S-ON) The Nandroid backup is all well and good, as long as I can still put it back on there with Clockwork, which I'm worried I might not be able to do. If anyone knows the answer, it'd be a very great help. Thanks in advance.

Although I think you can hide it if it irritates you. On an off-topic note, should I post my ROM here on Modaco? I don't know if I should since the DZ forums here are dead. Compared to XDA anyway..
Guest Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Okay, thanks a lot. (: I'll have a search for a way to hide the notification for the moment, and I expect I'll go to CyanogenMod fairly soon. Yeah, I see no reason not to post your ROM. If you're going to be maintaining a thread about it on XDA anyways, you could just copy any updates over to here, and I'm sure at least a few extra people will see it and give it a go. 'Tis up to you, though.

'Tis up to you, though. No problem. Always good to help. I've not seen the update notification since I got my phone. When I may have installed the update. So I had to wait before I could root it. Although the root was released on my birthday! How good! The only thing against posting my ROM here is the fact I don't check Modaco much. Since the Pulse forums are a dead man walking, and the DZ forums were dead on arrival. Perhaps when I'm a bit more happy with it. I still have a couple bugs I want fixed. Link if you want it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059424 (although if you want Cyanogen its a bit pointless for you)
