Has anyone managed to connect multiple USB devices?

I've just purchased an Advent Vega and have managed to put the R8 Custom ROM on to it - so far so good. I can connect a USB stick and access it in iFileManager (it's mounted at /mnt/usb/system_usb). I've also managed to connect a USB card reader and can see the photographs stored on a Compact Flash card inserted in it.

But what I really wanted to do was connect a USB hub so that I could have more than one of these devices connected and accessible at the same time, and that doesn't seem to work. I was hoping to be able to take the tablet away on a trip and copy photos across from CF cards onto a USB hard drive.

Am I trying to achieve the impossible, or has anyone out there managed to connect multiple USB storage devices and move files between them?

Thanks.

P.S. - It's just occurred to me that there's a docking station for the Vega which has 3 USB ports - if this works (i.e. allows me to connect two storage devices and see both at the same time) then I guess it would be one way to solve my problem (although not a particularly portable one).

Yes seen it done before on the R8 vega, but only seen multiple attachments such as keyboard mouse etc, dont know about file transfers...

Best method is to just try, do you have a USB Hub?

If not and you dont wanna buy one i have one but its plugged into my laptop but ill try if you need

Thanks, I have tried, and it doesn't seem to work, but I'm not sure if that's because it can't be done or if I've got an incompatible usb hub (or I'm doing something wrong).

If it can't be done then I'm a bit stuffed really - I bought this so I don't have to take my laptop on our trip (expensive if it gets stolen or damaged) but If I can't use the Vega to backup photos then I'll still have to take my laptop and my wife will question why I've spent £200 on a tablet I don't need!

Surely if the docking unit has multiple USB ports, it must be possible to plug in multiple storage devices?

Anyway, thanks for replying, and if you don't mind trying with your hub, I'd be very interested to know what happens.

I wouldn't quote me on it, but the latest Vegacomb rom might help you out. Honeycomb has better support for USB storage. I know it works much better for me using USB sticks, still didn't pick up my multi-card reader though.

Check this topic out and you will see several people have connected multiple devices via USB hub so no need to buy a dock specially just go for one someone has tested already :P

It might not be a problem with the usb hub itself but the file managing app, have you tried any others like 'ES File Manager' or checked in root explorer, mnt, to see if appears as a different device in there as another mount point?

I have never used ifilemanager so don't know if the mount folder you saw was from the root.
