Hey all. Just a quick note incase you didnt know it was possible, you can control your home PC from ANYWHERE on your TF

Been doing some digging on the net about getting Splashtop (in MyCloud App) working over 3G / other WIFI networks after @Keef319 suggested it should be possible.

anyway, found a guide which appears to be for Ipads, but works flawlessly on the TF too.

http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entrie...e-network-or-3g

Basically, you need to set your firewall to accept TCP connections for splashtop using ports 6783-6785

then use the PortForward site to create a static IP for your PC, and set up the rules in your router (all instuctions are there on the site, and link to page you need is in the link above)

Then in the Mycloud app, click on menu, and then add, keyin your external IP, and hit connect! (it does say could not reach, but works anyway)

Works a treat!

:P

So far I've managed to open the port but the port checker program isn't able to ping my computer...

I'm 90% sure I'm making an obvious cock up! lol

Pocket cloud and logmein ignition are quite good for RDP access. Logmein more so due to the awesome compression it uses. RDP will chew through about 3-4 MB of data in a few minutes. Logmein ignition uses 3-4 MB in about 40-50 minutes. Much more data friendly. Pocket cloud has the nicer interface though.

Strictly speaking Logmein doesn't use RDP but rather a custom protocol of it's own which is why it's much more bandwidth efficient.

But I have say that after getting used to Pocketcloud for a while have to switch back to the much more basic interface of logmein earlier this week was positively painful.

LMI really do need to stop treating the Android version of Ignition like the readheaded stepchild of the family and start implementing features that the IoS version has had for months like direct mouse pointer support (click where you tap on the screen rather than where the mouse pointer is).
