Hi

Why does alot of apps start when the phone starts (reboot) and some times during the day, maps running in the background without me even using that at all.

Using auto killer for apps. Just checked my phone now, and maps again running.

Same here!...I am still trying to figure out why?

In the mean time I'm using an auto killer as well:P

Might have to go back to Fibblesan's ROM...at least it didn't eat the battery:)

I always open auto killer after a reboot, so I kill all apps running, but what I cant understand why "maps" almost always showing, when I've only used the map maybe two-three times

That's just Android for you, if you look in an app like Autostarts you will see that Google Maps is hooked into the "After boot" event along with lots of other apps.

+1. Android fills the memory with apps so they're cached for later use.

Google apps do that, just let it run. It doesn't drain much (if any) battery for me. But latitude does.

android does this on purpose (well most of the time....).

mostly, having your ram used up by ram does not take any battery. and as long as you have a bit of free space it should not slow your phone down.

on 2.2 and 2.3 i recomend not using a taskiller. I do keep one (watchdog) for killing apps when needed (rarely) such a run away ones, and for monitoring cpu usage.

unless the app is a known battery user (eg fm radio app) you should just leave it running.

killing an app and then restarting usually takes way more battery than leaving it on memory. the blade has enough memory to mean this is not a problem.

back when i was an android noob (we've all been there) i would kill everything after use. however you will find your battery life improves if you leave most "normal" apps running.
