Hi guys,

My Blade ZTE running CM7.0.3 turns itself off when charging via USB overnight. Any ideas?

P.S. I charge via USB because I found the charger supplied was faulty and the phone made a whilstling noise whilst charging on the standard plug adapter, which caused the battery sometimes only lasted 30 minutes with no use other than picking up network signal (3G / WiFi both off). Battery life is inline with expectations charging via USB and never had the phone turn off overnight using an Android 2.2 ROM for about 5 months (can't remember which ROM sorry).

Menu>settings>applications>development>screen never sleep while charging (make sure its ticked)

Your phone is actually on in the morning after charging, its just the screen doesn't wake :D

Thanks I'll try that and I'm sure in most cases that is correct. This morning however, I briefly pressed the power button and the green android dude came up, leading me to believe this time it was actually off. I sometime also get the screen not turning back even if not charging, but that's quite rare.

Thanks for the suggestion. Implementing it now!

I've got this same issue - had it for as long as I upgraded to CM7. I've specifically got CM 7.0.0, and was to upgrade to latest version maybe this weekend.

About 3/4 of the time I've left the unit charging by USB, the unit is inactive in the morning. The unit is certainly off, as the android dude comes up when you hit the power button, or on removing the USB plug it automatically restarts.

I was really hoping 7.0.3 had this fixed now :D

Just use CM7 mod green. it is very stablle for me, it only has few useless apps. It can be found in roms and rom customizations.

OK so 1 night charge into the Menu>settings>applications>development>screen never sleep while charging (make sure its ticked) test and all OK so far! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I've activated this setting but even then on CM 7.0.3 (Gen2) it keeps turning off overnight. This never happenened on 7 RC4 (Gen1)

7.0.3 is old and buggy, and this is a known bug. The next nightly should be 100% stable, wait til it's out and update

Just to report on the 2nd night of using these settings:

Menu>settings>applications>development>screen never sleep while charging (make sure its ticked)

The phone locked up and I had to take the battery out and restart.

OK, so it's not a major problem and I'll just wait untill CM 7.0.4 gets released as I'm otherwise happy with CM 7 so far.

Use a newer version. That's been fixed for ages now. :D

Isn't CM7.0.3 is the last stable release? Certainly looks that way on the CM website (having been released a month ago). Please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not enthusiastic enough to keep up with nightly downloads).

The latest nightlys are much more stable than the official "stable" releases

None of the stable releases have been that good on the Blade. All the stables for CM7 have occured whilst the Blade version has had serious issues (such as charger reboots). The current nightlies are much better than any stable has been. You don't have to 'keep up' with them, just put on a good one and keep it a while. For instance, I used N35 for ages, past even the release of 7.0.3 because it was better than 7.0.0 up to and including 7.0.3. So just find a good one and stick to it - without limiting your options to so called 'stable' versions. As a hint, the very latest nightly N88, is awesome. :D

targetbsp - why is N88 so awesome? What does it bring to the table that I will notice? - is it general speed issues, and the charging issue sorted??

Cheers

Upgraded to 7.0.3 at the weekend, having not read this thread properly, and the charger reboot prob was still there. Updated to the latest N136 (2.3.4) and no probs with charger reboot since (touch wood). Also, got Google Music Beta streaming to Music 3.0, which was a welcome surprise, as I'm in the UK!
