Guest ValiantSaint Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) Hi I installed Navit "sat nav" software on the recommendation of a fellow Modaco user (Schwinni) and I set it up as per their directions: "The installation is very easy: Just download the latest APK, currently navit-svn-4504.apk, and install it. Extract a map with the map extractor, rename it to navitmap.bin and put it in /sdcard/navit. Now you can start to navigate." But all I can get is a flickering screen with no map. half the time the software keeps rebooting my Blade. Is anyone using this software, and could offer advice? Many thanks in advance : ) Is it easy to delete an APK file, and reinstall the app? Edited June 2, 2011 by ValiantSaint
Guest DaveyP Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) The only great thing about Navit is that its free and doesn't rely upon a data connection If this were the only sat nav app available ... then I'd uninstall and go and buy a map book Sure it can and does work, but compared to other apps its as rough as sandpaper and lacks polish. Google maps (although requiring a data connection) is far better Edited June 2, 2011 by DaveyP

Thanks : ) yer, im having some problems with navit too. i recently decided to try it out. as google maps does take quite a fair amount of data when for example using it as a satnav. i find unless i have a data conection when i start navit i just get a beige coloured screen where the map should be. if i start with a data connection, it runs, and keeps running if i turn off data.... weird. (and annoying) to this: "Is it easy to delete an APK file, and reinstall the app?" yes, very. just uninstall and reinstall.

And why does Navit keep rebooting my Blade? Thanks for you help : )
Guest Schwinni Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 And why does Navit keep rebooting my Blade? Thanks for you help : ) That's strange. I never had any problems with Navit. You could try using another version (one or a few days earlier or later from your version).

Would I have to delete my maps as well? Cheers : )
