Help with broken Vega please

I have a 4 months old Vega with r8 on it.

All has been working fine until.

Switched on yesterday morning and could not get the screen to respond on the lock screen.

I finally found that if I repeatably press the silver back button I can get to the home screen.

But on the home screen whatever icon I press seems to only launch Angry Birds. :D

Its as though the screen is totally messed up and needs resetting.

But thats where I am stuck as I cant get any apps to launch other than bloddy Angry Birds.

If I have to send it back to PCW will I have to flash it back to its factory fited ROM ?

Any help greatly recvd.

Hi did you switch on from sleep(hibernation) or from a proper power off.

if from power off it sounds like whilst it was rebooting you have touched the screen which does this occasionally make sthe screen unresponsive.

i just always long power off then reboot and that clears it, have you tried that?

Yes I think I have tried long power off (holding power button 8 secs) screen goes black.

Then power button again to turn on, screen goes lighter, then says booting, then vega logo, then lock screen but still cant use screen to swipe lock screen off.

I am also frightened to hook it up to my pc with USB because the Vega is in Host mode (so I can plug in my memory sticks etc), and I am sure I heard someone on this board say dont attach to your PC when vega is in host mode.

No problem with USB hookup to PC in Host Mode - there is enough protection built in. It still sounds like it is most likely software and reverting to a stock ROM and then starting again could be your best bet. I would suggest you go through the procedure on www.myadventvega.co.uk

So I manned up and hooked it up to my pc, installed usb drivers, and downloaded full image 1.10 from advent site.

Flash worked fine but on reboot it asked me to choose language and It was fine selecting English UK,

But when it came to pageing down the EULA it took 5 mins and kept shooting back up to top.

I finally got i to the bottom of EULA but cannot press/select the Agree button.

Is it busted and needs returning.

i would say yes it sounds busted :D re flashing should have cleared out the issue, are any of your hard buttons stuck down at all or the volume keys??

Also, have you got the power adaptor plugged in as some are known to cause enough interference to stop 'touch' working properly.

I had one do this to me. Sent it back (it was an online post-Xmas purchase) and DSG replaced it no fuss.
