I am finally taking my vega back to pc world tomorrow, after 4 new Sd cards have been tried, many reflashes later i have come to the conclusion that its poorly and needs to be looked at. The final straw came the other night when i decided to flash the vega back to stock rom 1.09 just as a experiment to see what happened, and within 10 minutes of it running the original suppied 4gb Sd card was showing as faulty and needed a format, i thought enough is enough, turned it off put it in its box and i will show them guys at pc world what it keeps doing...i have wasted over £50 on new Sd cards thinking all along its a compatability issue, but how can it be when the supplied Sd card keeps crashing ?? Not impressed and now wishing i got a netbook instead.

odd logic as you could just as easily get a faulty netbook but I hope they sort it for you - they are not the best company to deal with especially over the phone - at least instore you can hit them over the head with it when they mess you about I guess!

Usually if you talk to Currys / Dsg and don't get angry they will help. I had only one encounter with a pompus "Duty Manager" in PCW. I just asked him to calm down left the store and asked customer services to help which they did. It's always best to stay logical and reasonable even if it takes a bit longer. If you hit them over the head they think that's not nice of you and not want to help.

Sorry about the Vega - hope they sort it, and M$ are working to help you the a Tablet - PC - Netbook........ all in one comeing soon :D

Just a update..Took the vega back on saturday, explained the problem and the guy seemed really interested in the problem i have, and he agreed it was not normal for me to carry a pocket full of spare Micro SD cards ready for when it goes tits up...lol

I have heard nothing off them yet, but i did say that i DO NOT want it back unless its fixed...Will keep you updated.

So far i am very happy with the retuns department at pc world, the guy who server me was very polite.

Right another update...I picked up the Vega from PC world last Sunday, after they had it for 6 days with the dreaded SD card problem. Today i moved over a app from my pc to the sd card, then its gone Tits up again....:)

I have taken photos of the problem this time, so i can prove it to them, and i am left wound up by all this messing about...I feel as though i am unable to store anything on the Vega, as this will screw it up.

Pc world said that they had updated the firmware to 1.01 and this WILL solve the problem, they also said that they have been transferring files all week long and the SD card was fine...I flashed the Vega with Modaco custom rom the day after i got it back, as i asked if it would invalidate the warranty and they said its fine to "Mod" the vega because its impossible to brick it. So i am back to square one with a Vega that cannot be used as its intended...I shall see if it goes funny again this week and i shall return it straight away and ask to see the manager this time...Not happy

When i took mine in for replacement i told them that it was a code 5 product and showed them photos of the errors i was getting and they just gave me a new one .... since yours seems to be a problem nobody else has then if it happens again then take it back as faulty and ask for a replacement - the code 5 means they don't try to fix itjust replace it.

Getting an instant replacement seems to depend on the store you are dealing with.

Mine went in for repair 3 times before they actually relented and gave me a new replacement.

Next time it comes back take an sd card in with you and check it in the store before you leave!! If they can see it there and then not working you have a much better case for replacement.

Each time mine came back from repair I was guaranteed it had been fixed when in reality all they had done is reflash the stock ROM. Checking it in store showed them up no end as the same fault was present each time.

Many thanks for that info...I have sent Pc world a letter today stating that i want it replaced as i think its been faulty from new. I do not want to be messed about anymore by them, and i have taken legal advice today about the whole situation. Right now the vega is running stock 1.01, with the stock 4gb micro sd card and its gone tits up twice in 24 hours...i have also taken many photos to show those so called "Tech Guys" at Pc world...lol I shall see what response i get from pc world.
