My LG Optimus 2x has been getting very hot. It has got up to 45 degrees and feels very hot in my hand. I am concerned that this may be damaging my phone. Is it normal for the phone to be getting to this temperature and has anybody else been experiencing the same thing? If anybody knows a fix , make sure to post it.

I'have the same problem.

During charge, it has got up 45 degrees and sometimes when it is unplugged too.

I sent a mail to LG and they said that it's not normal ...

I read elsewhere there might be an issue with the LG usb wall charger. Mine doesn't seem to get excessively hot if I just use the cable.

all modern smartphones can get very hot, mainly because they have such a powerful processor, with no form of cooling (like a fan)

The 2 main causes for the phone getting hot are either when the phone is charging and the screen is on.

Or using mobile internet and this using the 3g radio inside, with the screen on.

If your doing all 3 culprits, charging the phone, while browsing the internet, then it will get very hot very quickly.

Also the longer it uses the 3g radio, the quicker it will get hotter, for example if your in a nice strong 3g area, then it might only take 2-3 seconds to load a webpage and thus the phone probaly wont get very hot, if your in a weaker area, and trying to load a heavy webpage, and it takes 30-45 seconds to load, then dont be surprised when this makes your phone very hot, and drains the battery.

When using other then the LG charger, my phone remains cool. But with the LG charger, it gets very warm, so there must be a problem with it. It also seems like the battery is lasting longer with a non-lg charger.

Trust me, thats going to be in your head. Micro usb chargers are a universal standard, they cant make your phone last longer.

Sorry, dont trust you :D

Not all micro usb chargers are the same, and this is well documented and also in the standards.(minimum 850mA @5v).Some can provide a higher current than others. I have various ones ranging from 700mA to 1100mA .

Yeah, I know, thats what makes it so wierd. :D But, a slower charge cycle maybe gives the battery more power? That's true for car batterys for example. I know it's not a lead battery in my phone, but maybe it's the same principle? But it's very possible it's all in my head, except the phone being cooler becouse there it was a big difference. :o Anyway, time will tell if im delusional or not. :D
