Guest JackDSParker Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hey guys :D I have had my lg optimus 2x/X2 for about 3-4weeks now :D (dual inter core processor) And i have Z4root on my device atm ive read up on what rooting does and stuff just wanted to ask a few things. have you ever rooted your phone and its broke or something? the things you can do in root mode dont seem that great, so shud a newbie even be doing this? What have you got to do before and after rooting, ive heard of something called titanium backup or something Really what i am asking is alot, like a step by step guide before and after, but if you think newbies shouldnt touch the device let me know and i wont do it as it might not be worth it. Thanks, Jack :o
Guest flshg Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Rooting is a process of allowing the user and applications have greater access to the phone system. On the plus side you gain greater ability to customise the phone and run applications that require root access (including backup utilities and security applications). Downside, possible (though unlikely) to damage system software, possibility of rogue applications having greater access to your phone, and voiding your warranty with the manufacturer. Titanium backup (and some other backup utilities) requires root access. There are plenty of guides on this site and others that describe the process of rooting, ideally you want one that is for your particular model of phone.
