I noticed I have a lot of space used up on Data by Google Maps and the Market, seeing as both have updated at least once from the version held on the system partition.

So, I am thinking of ways I can get the latest version installed on system instead.

I've read Titanium's Pro version can integrate updates for System apps back onto the System partition - Anyone used this before and how good was it ?

I don't have a Pro key yet as I still haven't got round to trying anything other than the one ROM so far (FLB v9), so don't actually use it.....

Alternatively, could I make a copy of the updated apk's, then uninstall the updates to the apps and then copy over the apks to System ? This sounds very simple so I wondering if there is a catch !!!

If this method is viable, should I rename the two apks to match the existing versions when copying, i.e in data/app I have com.android.vending-1.apk and com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk whereas in system/app, they are called market.apk and maps.apk

If there are other ways of doing this, please shout.....

I have used it and it works perfectly.

Best way is to not have apps which can be updated on /system at all & have a smaller system partition. Doesn't work for the Market itself, but for maps, etc. You can use a smaller system partition, or apps2sd if you want more room for data.

Already done that, via your TPT method by the way, to get a 300mb+ Data partition and still have plenty of room free, what with Apps2SD and the MovetoSD Enabler helping out (40mb on a Sat Nav app got moved to SD with that)....

Just thinking of ways to maximize space, but uninstalling Maps completely and a further TPT to reduce system down even more and then reinstalling it is a good option to have.....
