i have this problem with my orange sf , since i installed cm7 with converter for gen 1 devices i noticed that battery never discharges

i then did from recovery wipe bat stats and removed from the phone

since then i have 2 different situations : 1 full charged never discharge , 2 empty not charging

flashed different roms and releases froyo's , eclair , nothing changes

i think file system is harmed somehow

i suppose this has to do with a file like batterystats.bin which is harmed cause i already tried a new battery(same)

whatever calibration i do nothing changes

what can i do?

how can i restore everything to stock maybe this solves problem

With all those things you've already tried, it sounds more like a hardware issue.

You could just try and 'ignore' the battery indicator, just use the phone allowing it to discharge until it shuts itself off (so expect it may shut off at any time). Recharge for the normal time (~3 hours?) with the phone powered off, and hopefully the system will relearn the real battery stats.

edit: just noticed you've tried calibration already

edit2: Just out of curiosity, what is showing as the battery voltage in spare parts? I think the system uses this to estimate battery charge i.e. voltage decreases as charge decreases (someone else should be able to correct me on this).

spare parts say battery 100% health good , when i plug charger that thunder symbol while charging illuminates instantly then extinguish and here we go again in random periods.

maybe it is hardware problem

anyone else has an idea?

I was under the impression that you wasn't allowed to let a Li-Ion battery go dead by dead I mean 0% battery because it causes Issues with them, if your phone is in warranty try for a replacement battery

Yeah I heard that as well. However I've heard these batteries have built-in protection, and the phone will shut down before the battery reaches any damaging level of charge. Dont have the link for that but it was an article relating to the unnecessary process of battery recalibration to force extra battery charge.

Just on that subject, I've just fully charged my phone, settings show the battery at 4199mV. At very low battery charge its about 3500mV (5% charge remaining). At 4% the phone automatically shuts down. Presumably thats the auto protection kicking in once the battery reaches a threshold voltage. If the OP's phone does not report the voltage then that would suggest a hardware problem (or corrupt kernel?).
