Guest Shahmatt Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Hi all, I'm trying to upgrade my current Swedish Spring ROM by flashing a new ROM. I've had clockworkmod recovery installed from the original SS flash which removed the ZTE stock ROM. I re-entered the clockworkmod menu to install the new ROM but it got unresponsive, all menu items lead to the hat (clockworkmod icon I presume) and stopped just there. I assumed that somehow my version of cwmod recovery had gotten messed up, so I attempted to re-flash the cwmod by pressing the "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery" in ROM manager. ROM manager now shows - current version: 3.0.2.7. However I can't seem to boot into CWmod in the conventional way - volume down + power does not seem to work. In fact the phone got unresponsive and got stuck at the Android man logo on trying this, scaring me to death. Had to remove battery and reinsert to start the phone restore my heart rate to normal. My risk taking gene is at a low ebb right now, so I think I will wait till tomorrow before trying anything new. But what have I done wrong? How can I get CWmod to work? Many thanks in advance for your help. :D
Guest flshg Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Is your blade gen1 or gen2? If gen 1 then you need a different version of clockworkmod as I believe 3.0.2.7 is for gen2. Use rom manager and install version 3.0.1.4
Guest steeperton Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 I had this exact issues earlier this morning - Using a file manager, delete the sdcard/clockworkmod/download directory, then go back into Rom Manager, and redownload clockworkmod. This worked fine for me (I assume a corrupted download the first time I tried it.)

I have done both of the above, i.e. deleted the download directory and reflashed clockword mod version 3.0.1.4. I now am able to enter the cwmod menu, but none of the options work as before. Clicking anything goes to the hat logo screen and does not proceed from there. I can still revert back to the main menu though but I can't use any of the options available. Seems as though reflashing has not worked. Is there a way I can uninstall cwmod and reinstall?
Guest flshg Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 I dont think theres any way to uninstall the recovery, and there is no need. Reflashing will overwrite it and it should be ok. Its strange that it still doesnt work. You could perhaps try using amon_ra recovery. I've never used it so cant give any specific advice about version etc.

What could be the possible reasons for a CWmod recovery hang? Could it have something to do with the SD card? Should I try formatting it? I am nervous about trying another recovery software, being very new to this kind of thing. But I guess I will do if I can't solve this problem.
Guest Shahmatt Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Ok somehow I managed to solve the problem. I uninstalled Recovery Manager, and installed ROM manager. Afterwards I installed clockworkmod version 3.0.1.4. I tried launching nandroid backup from ROM manager and it worked. Installing the new Portugese Spring ROM was not a problem through the ROM manager once again. Not sure what happened, but I'm guessing there was some conflict between Recovery Manager and ROM Manager. Anyway, many thanks for all the help!
