Guest Puzzles Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Is there a ROM that only contains stock Android and Google apps without superuser (and rooting), additional apps etc. and is version 2.2 or 2.3 for the ZTE Blade Gen1? A Gen2 will also do if it works with the Gen1>Gen2 TPT.
Guest Pelemane Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Vanilla 2.2: http://files.podtwo.com/roms/stock/zte/bla...date_signed.zip It's from finnish operator Saunalahti and it is pretty much vanilla. (Almost) Vanilla Gingerbread: CyanogenMod Sunshine v2 (Android 2.3.4) It is rooted and has some useful apps but it is almost vanilla. Those are both Gen2.
Guest Puzzles Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Okay, but some time ago someone (I don't remember who) in this forum said that I would have cache issues with stock ROMs. Is that serious? And what patch do I need to download Market apps with stock ROMs?
Guest ThrashMan Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Sunshine v2 would be a bad idea. It's basically an old version of CM7 with the CM7 bits removed. Get the latest CM7.
Guest phlum Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 A really cut-down version? There's one called CM Green here which has a version that only has the bare minimum of stuff on it.

He wanted vanilla Android and CM7 isn't very vanilla. And that sunshine isn't that old. It has stuff from n85-n88. And what patch do I need to download Market apps with stock ROMs? If you have too small /cache partition and use stock roms then you will have problems. Just don't make your /cache too small.
Guest KenBW2 Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Why does every "I want vanilla 2.3" thread have a plethora of posts saying "Whats up with CM7? Get CM7" They're asking for vanilla, not CM!

I think it is mainly because CM7 is vanilla+ADW launcher+Theme Chooser+DSP Manager, frankly the rest is the same as a vanilla ROM, and you could easily removes those apps and replace ADW with stock gingerbread launcher.

You're kidding, right? CM7 is probably furthest away from vanilla of all ROMs. It has plenty of CM7 only code included in it's system. Just replacing few apps won't make it vanilla or even close. Yes, CM Sunshine is based on slightly older build (n85ish) and it's portuguese origins are a bit shady, but other than that it's ok for testing. It wouldn't be a bad a idea for you to test it either and see what other CM parts can be stripped off. :D Only way you can get truly vanilla android is to get yourself a google nexus one or nexus S.

Sorry my bad, by in my opinion some of that code is useful, like the extra cyanogenmod settings. I assume he just wants to make the ROM look vanilla

Guest shadowninty Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 What's the point on losing all CMs features?
Guest KonstaT Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 What's the point on losing all CMs features? I guess the point is trying to revert back to google's idea of android, mobile OS that _they_ designed. That's what vanilla android means. :D It just happens that CM7 is the only gingerbread for blade, so this can only be done by removing some it's features.
Guest unrandomsam Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 What's the point on losing all CMs features? Space and some of them are not really worth having. Tablet Tweaks (Why would anyone want that on a phone). Themes and Wallpapers just waste space stock theme would be fine. Thing is there is quite a bit of compatibility code that you do need to have a working rom. Don't think the right codeaura stabilization branch exists for the amss we need. If the oxygen desire rom can fit in 90MB then the ideal blade rom should be able to (Or round about that I wouldn't use zeem). If you stray too far from QAEP and you don't know what you are doing you will probably break it. Depends only on perseverance. All the code is there.
