Guest k0zmic Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 I suppose it shows Android had the best solutions for these things, hence the reason to copy.
Guest Fou-lu Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 Irony is they sued Samsung for "copying" and now they copy something off touchwiz and the android notification, even the three lines were you drag it up lol
Guest DaveyP Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 And I quote from another place.. Posted by menzoomJune 7, 2011 - 02:112 hours ago Nothing Apple EVER did is original. The entire Mac operating system was originally a Xerox tool that Steve "thief" Jobs stole and slowly built into what it is today. Xerox had the first Graphic User Interface on a computer introduced in 1981 when Jobs and Gates were just young thieves out to bank on someone else's idea. So this is not a surprise to me. And the masses who don't bother to read or research are gonna think he's a genius. I am sad that people like that get rewarded. Amen
Guest shmizan Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 it is not a secret that most iPhone users are intellectually more stupid than other smartphone users. it's a shame that this happens but there was no escape. maybe Android should steal some features back! but I don't know which..
Guest KACE_231 Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Apple OS is ridiculously restricted, either way as time goes, android will quickly outcompete Apple for market shares and before you know it we'll have another Windows vs Apple Mac situation again, 99:1 market ratio.
Guest Tony Sidaway Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 I'm no fan of Apple (particularly their European pricing strategy) but the allegation that Jobs and Wozniak stole an operating system from Xerox and built it up into the Macintosh system is laughably false. Xerox invited Apple engineers to PARC in exchange for Apple stock, and the intention was that Apple develop a system based on the graphical user interface concepts developed by the Star team at PARC. Apple later unsuccessfully sued Microsoft for using certain GUI concepts, and fearing that this case might establish a precedent allowing the patenting of GUI concepts that had originated at PARC, Xerox also sued Apple. The case was thrown out.
Guest DaveyP Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Ok... the 'theft' part could be a myth, but the "Nothing Apple EVER did is original" seems to be true.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Thing is though that Google don't even try hard to fight back. They could really damage Apple if they wanted to. Alongside this list of things, there are google apps on iOs devices. If Google was to pull the plug on these then Apple would have to develop their own or use someone else's. And WTF is wrong with Apple. Why did they sue Samsung, they ******* make their chips! iOS is still FAR less functional that android Out of the box, and even then, app's highly add to Android's flexibility, which, would never be allowed on the "app store" because it would make Apple look bad. Oh and because you have to pay $99 dollars to start developing, where on android, its free (unless you want to go by the market)
Guest Pondlife Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Eventually they'll all look the same at this rate. Still am glad I'm getting wifi sync on ipod touch 3gen eventually. :D
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Whhhhhrrr.... Never did see the point of the iPod touch if you have a smartphone... :D

Oh and because you have to pay to start developing, where on android, its free (unless you want to go by the market) I don't think they have the patents to do so, although they were buying a company for patents so we'll see. It would hurt Google's revenue if they did this, iOS does make a fair chunk of their mobile ad revenues. Apple are developing their own Map app since they bought up a company who are in maps and stuff. To be fair TouchWiz was a bit of a iOS copy. But Samsung were a bit helpless since they wouldn't want to let Apple take their business for chips to someone else, e.g. Qualcomm, Texas Instruments etc. That's probably true, but still iOS still has the advantage over Gingerbread in terms of usability for novice users and polish IMO. Although, Honeycomb does look nicer than iOS for iPad. That said, WebOS and Windows Phone 7 look better than both and are more functional. It's a shame HP don't seem to know what to do with WebOS. And I hope WP7 takes off, Microsoft have the best idea in terms of balancing hardware variation and while still keeping updates consistent. Edited June 7, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest Pondlife Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Whhhhhrrr.... Never did see the point of the iPod touch if you have a smartphone... :D Battery life on smartphones is bad enough (especially blade) without trying to get all my music playback on it. Also couldn't fit all my music on the blade. Can't find a decent podcast app yet either. Options are always good.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Aye, android is the best deep down, but, you need to scratch the surface to really make it look as good as it is...
Guest Benti77 Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Truly Android copied from IOS, so now IOS copies from Android :D
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Truly Android copied from IOS, so now IOS copies from Android :D Well really Android began development in about 2005, which is probably about the same as Apple really started getting serious with the iPhone. No-one really copied anyone, until, now :D
