Guest jamesbooth Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Basically, I wanted to upgrade the latest version of CyanogenMod so I upgraded my phone from GEN1 to GEN2. However, I've lost all my contacts and everything and want to go back to what I was using before. I've got a Nandroid backup I'd like to open and install, but I've lost ClockworkRecovery and I'm having troble re-installing it on CM7.0.3 it back and my phone back to GEN1 so I can open and install the Nandroid backup. I've been trying to do this for 4 hours now and looked at various threads, none of which seem to be helping. Please, has anyone got any suggestions?
Guest Pondlife Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) You don't need clockwork to go back to gen 1 you need the gen 2 to gen 1 tpt. http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...n2-tpt-upgrade/ Look down in first post for Going back to Gen1 and the Here is Gen1 with stock partitions & ClockworkMod 3 (16.4mb) bit, then you can boot into that and load your nandroid. --------- Aren't your contacts linked to your google account? Should be able to sync them from there if you've logged in. If by everything you meant your apps are gone too, that's normal you'd need to back them up in old rom (possibly using titanium backup) or reinstall from the market. If you went to gen2 7.0.3 using the tpt in the curl66's "[GEN1&GEN2][ROM]CM 7.0.2stable + Nxx TPT Image for easy Install" thread it does say BACKUP YOUR DATA! ALL IS GONE EXCEPT WHAT IS ON THE SD-CARD! in the first post. I wouldn't recommend 7.0.3 though if you do want to go back to CM7 after backing up, the later nightlies are far better. Thanks a lot, man. Everything's sorted now. Yeah, I thought my contacts would be backed up to my Google account too which is why I didn't back up, I wasn't that bothered about my apps. Bit stupid in hindsight and it turns out it only saved around 30 of them for some reason, I'll make sure it's properly synced when I next upgrade. Thanks for the recommendations too, I'll look at the nightlies in future. You've been a massive help.

Guest hugobosslives Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 only contacts stored on your phone are backed up to google nope. inncorrect. you can backup all your market apps to google too. you can set it up so if you put a new rom on and leave your wifi on for a couple of hours. all your apps will 'magically' appear ;)

Guest rockstarszzzz Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 how do you do that? It will magically appear ONLY IF you have 2.3 ROM installed. For 2.1 and 2.2 - we don't get this option as far as I know. Well atleast it din't do it for me. You do it from Settings - Accounts & Sync. OR for 2.3 roms i.e. CM7 based ROMs, when you set up your gmail account at the beginning, you can choose to back up to gmail account and restore to gmail account option in one of the screens. It's two options you have to tick and finish setup.
