Guest derffie Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Ok, maybe I'm niéve, and techologicaly cluess, hopefully in a way thats still endearing enough to avoid the comments of platitude! Right here goes, we all know that ice cream samwich will be on route end of the year and have cross platform compatability, phone, tablet and computer, thus intergrating the whole defragmented development issue, and what with supposed ability to install onto any older android device, unity for developers etc, now I just want to know, is it possible to run honeycomb apps on a earlier android version? I really like the look of the new honeycomb specific apps, but (no offence to newbe5 corvus or the rest of you talented guys) think honeycomb is rather hard work for what essentialy will be a short lived os, so my thinking is what would be needed to run honeycomb apps on a corvus5 vega tablet, which to my mind would cuminate in vega tablet perfection. Is it possible? I have tryed a few searches, googled around, but its not leading me many answers. Again, please don't think I'm insulting anyones efforts in rom devloping. Cheers guys Fred

Just google it dude, loads of sites say that, even:http://androidcommunity.com/ice-cream-sandwich-full-google-io-details-20110510/ And at the bottom there: All of these elements will be available as developer APIs for Ice Cream Sandwich during what they say will be quarter 4 2011. Thats just one, loads of sites all say the same, seems the state of android is something google want to unify as quickly as possible, to combat the apple beast! Thought this was all common knowledge, And no, by no means stop developing thats not what I meant at all, its just the opposite, can we work honeycomb apps on corvus5 rom? Thats my question, just wanted to know if it could be done.

Guest WWEpsp Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 It would be great to have honeycomb's launcher on 2.2 froyo
Guest mintvilla Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 It would be great to have honeycomb's launcher on 2.2 froyo Honeycomb apps will not work on anything thats not Honeycomb. Corvus 5 with the vtl launcher is about the best you will get out of android 2.2, Its to do with api levels, you see when honeycomb was released it has a new API level (11 i think) and with this level of api brings with it the tools to make those cool looking honeycomb apps. Corvus being on on froyo is still stuck on level 8 or 9 (as theres still gingerbread after that froyo) and thus can not utilise the new tools that the new API level brings to android. There the new honeycomb apps can not run on the older API levels. (hope that makes sense, half 2am here should of been bed hours ago lol)
