Guest JLCsan Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Hi there, good afternoon. Im having problems with the default Gallery app in my Vega, ít crashes when I open an album with a few pictures in it (so far, albums between 100-200) and I move the slider bar to the right, it comes with an error message: Sorry The application Gallery (process com.cooliris.media) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. If I click on a picture in the album and I just browse through all of them one by one as normal nothing wrong happens, all is good, but if I browse through the album with the slider bar at the bottom or just swiping on the screen from left to right before I click on any pciture it crashes. Ive got a class 10 8GB card in it, and it has the default rom it came with from stock, 1.09, only extra things installed are the add-on for the market and the thin top bar. Any help/info appreciated, many thanks ;) Edited June 8, 2011 by JLCsan
Guest trevor432990 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Hadn't used Gallery for a while so after your post I thought I'd try it and I had the same problem. The way I got around it is to uninstall the stock Gallery application then replace by installing Gallery 3D from the Market. If like me you find there is no 'uninstall' option for the app you will need to go into /system/app and delete it manually using the Root Explorer app then once done go to Market and install Gallery 3D. This version seems to stop the crashing. Edited June 8, 2011 by trevor432990
Guest Rob Watson Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Yes I had same problem, I think it is a bug. I installed and used another application and left gallery alone
Guest worto03 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Yes I had same problem, I think it is a bug. I installed and used another application and left gallery alone me too, it's fine with a couple of pics but as soon as you load up a decent amount of pics it crashes too often to make it useable, shame it was quite pretty, I use quickpic now instead but will give trevor's shout for Gallery 3D a try when I get chance. I've tried it on pretty much every modaco ROM since r2 and it's always crashed - not sure about other ROM's though.
Guest JLCsan Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I will give that Gallery 3D app a go, and post the results after. Thanks to you all for the quick answers ;)
Guest JLCsan Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I will give that Gallery 3D app a go, and post the results after. Thanks to you all for the quick answers ;) Well, just to say thank you again. The Gallery I had was already the Gallery 3D, at least that was the one in the system/app folder... I downloaded QuickPic, and all is fine now, awesome application, I can see all pictures very fast and without any crashes, perfect. Also, I could uninstall a bit of junk with that Titanium Backup app, great :P Just one last thing, can I uninstall the Dialler app from my Vega? I don't think I'll ever use it, thanks.

You may be right about the Gallery app being the same but I did find that by deleting it then re-installing from Market the crash problem went away but if you are happy with QuickPic that's good. Yes uninstalling the Dialler app is OK and you might wish to consider installing the battery power tweak as well to save standby power consumption. :P Edited June 10, 2011 by trevor432990
Guest jp514 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 +1 for recommending Quickpic. We covered it on coolsmartphone earlier in the week. Click here if you want to see a quick review of it
