Guest rnotenboom Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I was looking for a tablet with windows 7 on it, and saw that the viewsonic 10 can dualboot on android 2.2 and windows 7, now my question is it possible installing windows on a advent vega?

It has been suggested before but can't be done due to the vega being on arm and Windows currently requiring/using x86. The new Windows OS, Windows 8 that'll be out next year will be compliant with both ARM and x86 so we can only wait.

Guest Dave Marchant Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 that make sense, because on work i saw a asus tablet with windows 7 on it and it runs very well so ;) At the moment, the Windows tablets are based on Intel chipsets and those that also boot Android (I have a ViewSonic 10 as well as a Vega) have severe limitations regarding Apps. Most will not install on Android X86 (as the Intel version is designated). I have only got two basic games from Marketplace to install and run so far. Angry Birds is a complete non-starter as are most of the usual common apps, plus there is no working Flash for Android X86. In the same manner, Windows does not yet exist for Arm (at least not one the Microsoft have put out yet). It is being worked on with Windows 8 but no-one knows what level of spec it will need to work.

I have two ancient Fujitsu 3500, these are early touchscreen PC'c designed for Windows 98. The have 500mhz CPUs. Thanks

I would guess the Android distributions have a fixed driver set and probably will not adapt to other hardware. Unless you can get the source and change the drivers, I would think it will not work. The ViewSonic Viewtab 10 Android X86 2.2 is downloadable from here - http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/uk/support/tablet/
