Guest powderjunki Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Hi I've searched for this but only got results on installing unbuntu on vega. Currently on Paul's r8 but may take the comb plunge.. Anyway my vista laptop died and would not boot despite lots of techie input. Someone suggested booting unbuntu from disk as I needed some files I hadn't backed up (that'll teach me!).. Turrns out I really like unbuntu aas may switch, but only if I can still tweak my vega. Does anyone know if this possible or will I neeed to restore vista for dual boot option. Thanks in advance Simon

Thanks in advance Simon Yes, it is possible to flash ROMs from Ubuntu. There are a few manual steps necessary, but overall it is easier than all the USB nightmare on Windows 7. Only problem is that stock ROMs are not so easy to flash, as they come as Windows EXE files. You would need to get Ubuntu to recognize the tablet and then get ADB running. I wrote a short tutorial for Xubuntu, but it should work the same on Ubuntu. [Tutorial] ADB on (X)ubuntu
Guest gevans3342 Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Yes I use single click restore running on ubuntu with my Vega and I use the wireless ADB widget as well, so I don't even have to plug the vega in when I fancy trying a new ROM. Took a little bit of time to initially setup, but now it's great... ;)
