My one complaint is the proprietary connector for the usb cable and that the cable isnt long enough. The device doesnt seem to charge if i use an extension either.

Can another cable be bought, preferably a longer one?

Find yourself a USB 3.0 compliant extension and it should work.

There is currently no way to buy a replacement cable. I've even contacted Asus directly who confirmed this.

The only way I can see to get one would be to purchase another TF101. Which is kinda silly.

Guard that cable with your life because if you lose it or break it, that's the end of your Transformer until Asus decide to start selling accessories.

Monoprice.com has USB 3.0 extension cables for just under $3 each for 3ft, or just under $4 each for 6ft

So, my cat just chewed the business end of my TF cable. I can no longer charge the tablet.

This is a serious problem as I can find NO WHERE I can buy a replacement. Not even Asus will supply me one for any price.

What to do?

Buy another TF and use the PSU from that, then sell the first one once I can buy a replacement cable?

Enjoy my new paperweight until Asus start selling cables/PSUs.

:)

this is really ridiculous... a proprietary cable with no way to buy spare ones!

I'm sure Chinese OEM spare cables will show up though....

According to the manual, you can charge from regular USB but only if you turn of the TF completely...

Maybe so, but the problem is always going to be the 40-pin proprietary end - basically, if the cable gets borked, you are stuffed

On a related matter, whenever I have tried plugging my Transformer into one of my PCs front-mounted USB3 connectors, I get BSOD with Bad_Pool_Header error.....USB2 ports are all fine :)

Maybe try booting from a recent linux livecd / liveusb, to see if it's a windows issue... See also if there are updated USB drivers for your motherboard
