Guest albal Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Hi, I've dabbled in a bit of WP7 development in the IDE but I now want to get a decent phone for development but it must have good battery life as it will also be my main phone. I know it's a bit of n00b question but I'm not after one with high mp camera of any other features (though the standard feature set is good) just a good solid reliably phone for developing apps. Cheers, Al
Guest awarner Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 At the moment there is only one device that has an 8mp camera, all the others have 5mp. Mp alone does not make a good camera and to be honest HTC have never made a decent camera in my opinion. As for "feature set" there is a standard set of features that WP7 have as MS laid out the guidelines to ensure WP7 has the best user experience no matter what device you have, the only extra the LG devices have is DNLA support. Battery lifedepending on use you are looking at around a day per charge and that is standard on most smartphones now especially 3G and above as that radio part of the phone is fairly power hungry. I have an HD& and LG Optimus7 E900 and I would say the LG has a better camera. Both of my phones have 16gb the others on the market have 8gb. Prices do fluctuate so I do not know offhand what the best
Guest albal Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Many thanks for your detailed reply. I scanned a popular auction site and finally came to the decision to buy a Samsung Omnia 7 i8700. Should be with me tomorrow. Funny how you are just up the road from me in CF. Al
Guest awarner Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 If you want a more detaild look at a WP7 device I'm happy to meet up for a pint, just been Carphone Warehouse in HedgeEnd and they have asked me to visit on a quiet day to give them some hands on training. Don't forget, development wise you will need to unlock the device which is something I am not personally experienced with but there are sites that can help with this.

My Omnia came yesterday and I'm in the process of registering with AppHub but looks like authorisation happens manually and I don't think they do this on the weekend :-(
