Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Hi Guys, Wonder if you can help me...? Recently got my replacement Blade the other week. And already since having it, have now run into issues... :P Last night, found 1x dead pixel.... :D but I think I managed to fix that.... ;) And ever since after CM7 N85, I have not been able to install a build of CM7 greater than N85... I first tried N88, and now N94... both as upgrades, and as clean installs, with wiped data/cache/factory settings.... aslo tried a custom Gingerbread, Green v4... I am Gen1, and want to stay Gen1... so I use the converter (both versions) and neither seem to work. Yet my brother has applied the latest firmware and he is still Gen1, and his works.....?? Any idea's guys??? or could my SanFran be messed up/corrupted/broken? Thanks, Lister Edited June 9, 2011 by Lister Of Smeg
Guest k0zmic Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 So what happens with CM7 when you use it? Doesn't boot up?
Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Hi Kozmic, Yeah sorry, forgot to say what actually happens... Doh!! but yeah, it dont boot... ;) All builds, Stable 7.0.0 last Gen1, to 7.0.3 boots fine with converter.... and all Nightlies upto N85 boot fine with converter.... And then since then, no other Nightly will now boot... I am still Gen1, and want to stay Gen1.... my brother is Gen1 and his is fine on the latest nightly with converter. I have tried upgrades, and clean install (wiping the data/cache/factory/davlik). It reboots, shows the green Android logo for like 2 to 3 seconds, and then either reboots in a constant loop, or now jus kinda shuts down, but with red led light on still.. same with other ROMs based on CM7/2.3.4.... Yet all the FroYo Roms work fine...?? :P Very odd I think...??? Thanks, Lister
Guest k0zmic Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 What firmware is your brother using, as in the exact build?
Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Hi K0zmic, Edit: sorry, these are all official CM7 builds.... my brother hasnt tried any of the new 2.3.4 builds yet, where as I have tried Green v4 Well, he/we both tried N88... his worked, mine didnt... ;) and now I believe he is on N93, again working... :P Me, I tried N88 didnt work, and I jumped upto both N94 and N95 and neither of those are working... :D He is a SanFran B05 (I believe, the OLED one) and I am a B10 TFT... But it seems odd that mine should suddenly stop working through these builds...?? kinda thinking mine might be hardware or faulty...?? But then if it works on older CM7's, and all FroYo's, and inc Orange stock, its gonna be kinda hard for me to take back to Orange for a replacement if it works on Stock Orange... :D dooooh, why me... :D Thanks, Lister Edited June 8, 2011 by Lister Of Smeg
Guest k0zmic Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Yeah that is really weird. I don't think it's hardware. When you wipe do you go into mounts and storage and format system? Edited June 8, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Erm, no.... ;) I do my wipes (as have always done in past) from the first menu.... - wipe data/factory reset - wipe cache partition and then from the Advanced menu - wipe davlik cache Those are the ones I've only ever done, what ones should I be doing then...? how do they differ from the others...? And by doing those, are they gonna wipe any data off from my SD Card...? Card is also partitioned... 2Gb Ext2 for Apps, and 6Gb for general accessible storage. I have tried just now booting without an SD Card, and without a Sim card, same effect... :P So wiping the Mounts, will that clear more than what i normally do, perhaps there is summit lurking? Thanks, Lister
Guest k0zmic Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Just do data/factory reset that you normally do and then go into mounts and storage and wipe system. If you like you can format the others but don't format boot or SD Card. Then try and flash CM7. It's because CM7 doesn't format system, so some old system files may be lurking. Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Hi K0zmic, Edit/Aditional: Jus thought, I am doin this all through ClockworkMod, and Recovery from this forum, 3.0.2.8.... could that be the problem? In the past I used 3.0.1.4, and when i updated the Recovery through RomManager in past, thats caused probs getting back into Recovery... I am gonna try boot to an old CM7 and try downgrade my Recovery.... could this have any effect?? ok, just tried that... was really hoping, as when I saw the Converter installing, and going to System partition, thought could be onto summit here, but alas no..... still same problem I'm afraid...?? :P Any other idea's...?? (really hope its not hardware, ya reckon its not yeah...?? ;) ) Thanks for all ya help so far, if ya have any other idea's would be really great, thanks... Thanks so much for helpin me through this, and letting me know about System wiping too... Thanks, Lister

Guest hugobosslives Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 the converter doesn't work very well on 3.2.x.x. it used to say this on his thread. dunno if it still does so not your fault. has a different way of storing the temp files. for people who have the same problem switch to 3.1.x.x recoveries.
Guest Lister Of Smeg Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Hi Hugobosslives, Thanks for this mate, yeah, I had no idea.... guess I must of updated my recovery (being bombarded... by Rom Manager to keep upgrading to latest) and when got new phone, had to do the rooting, Recovery Manager and all that over again, so jus grabbed what was on the site and bosh!! set it up.... ;) :D Then for the life of me, couldnt work out why some roms would install fine, yet the later ones not?? :D Did my head in, and was seriously starting to doubt my new replacement SanFran... as I had a dead pixel the other day too, which now seems to have gone too... :P so back to having a shiney workin non dented SanFran back again :D And yeah thanks, would never of known that.... :D Cheers, Lister the converter doesn't work very well on 3.2.x.x. it used to say this on his thread. dunno if it still does so not your fault. has a different way of storing the temp files. for people who have the same problem switch to 3.1.x.x recoveries.
