Instructions to get NOVA 2 working on blade

rite, so many people have asked me how to get NOVA 2 from gameloft working on the blade. after answering in other threads and lots of personal messages (pms) i have decided to rite one thread on how I got it working.

alrite, lets do this:

firstly: does it work? YES pretty dam flawlessly. the intro works, menus and controls are fixed (you'll only get this if you played NOVA 1), very smooth framerate, tho load times are quite long at the start of levels (especially when not overclocking)

my current blade setup:

cm7 (self build around n94)

changed .prop manufactor line to HTC (this makes it download the HTC desire sdcard cache, needed for most gameloft games on cm7)

JIT and surface dithering off. (this is not needed tho it helps performance for me)

a bit off free ram. give it 100mb free so android doesnt start to kill stuff when it runs out of memory (this will slow the game down)

oh and a bit of good old overclocking. mine is 768mhz in setcpu until temp rises over 40C then it goes down to 604 (which it still runs at, just a little slower)

how to get it going:

im using v.1.0.3 (so if possible download that)

change .prop as above. then reboot so this change takes place.

then install and open the app. then it will prompt you to download the additional data. and if you have done the .prop thing it should then download the (about 400ish mb) HTC sdcard cache. afterwards, it should do the intro video and then launch.

if you have trouble with slow gameplay. i recomend, chainfire3D. i had a little trouble on one level (about level 5) where it slowed a bit (although I doubt this was due to the game as I was downloading the backstab cache at the same time as playing so this may have slowed it down, plus it was probs over 40C so not overclocking) but anyway, applying the new chaninfire3D driver (it was updated yesturday) made it super smooth again ;)

probably forgotten something so ask if i have missed something obvious. happy gaming :P

@mushroom lord

what do you mean prompt? when you install any gameloft game it prompts you to get sdcard cache. it then downloads the cache for whatever phone your. prop said at your last reboot.

also. I never quite got the vmheap thing. I thought it causes problems at over 32mb? please explain ;)

with regards to battery life... just the same as any other intensive game. On average I play maybe 1.5 hours a day (plus bout 5 short calls, 30 texts, an hour of music through headphones, and an hour of internet browsing) and get just under 2 days on cm7 (3 on froyo). suits me fine.

Did you kill apps before opening the game?

And has anyone got Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 working before I make the purchase?

Cheers :)

I wish I knew what this "Htc cache" is :) - more info needed....

And WHY OH WHY does nova2 make me re-download the 271 odd meg of data just because I am re-installing the apk?

upping your vm heap size seems to help quite a bit. (it also saves battery life). vm is kinda like the amount of memory that can be temporary used b4 android starts to clean it up (either by compression or erasing the older stuff). when I upped mine from 32m to 48m I had a notable improvement.

you can change it build.prop (tho make sure you keep the m after the number or you'll have such a tiny vm your phone won't work) or you can do it cm settings. you must reboot for effect.

@mushroom_lord

when I say cache I mean sdcard files.
