Guest Dave Marchant Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Dropped my vega this morning, cracked the screen. Unresponsive to touch Don't think the warranty will cover that will it Is it possible to get a replacement screen ? Warranty only covers manufacturing defects / faults, so unless you took out the extra cover that Dixons / Currys offered which also covers accidental damage, you are not going to get any joy from them. How about your household insurance - some cover accidental damage to items. I am not aware of anyone finding an easy source of any replacement parts so far for the Vega looking at the posts here and on XDA.
Guest j-pe Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 You can't miss the crack its across the whole screen. I will look into my insurance. Confessed to the Mrs may have to sleep in the shed, she didn't want me to buy it in the first place
Guest theeskimo Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Hey, I know you've got no chance now. But for everybody else, this is why Currys' and Pc World's Whatever Happens is worth the money. I think for the vega its £80 for three years, and all of this accident stuff is covered, even abroad. Sorry Mate!
Guest j-pe Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Based on my current run off luck ( my car died last week £1500 for engine rebuild ) They will have flash working on honeycomb too Not a good month so far
Guest j-pe Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Turned the Vega on to show a mate how I'd broken it and its working just the outer glass cracked is it possible toreplace that?
Guest Vega Tech Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Ok pc world do a fault and fix service this costs £50 to uplift the vega to there workshop where they will diagnose it. However u wont get this £50 pound back as this covers insurance delivery and to diagnose it. But the screen replacement for this model is £108 so all in ur looking at about £160 so not far of a new one. Its up to you :0.
Guest Dexyatboxy Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Turned the Vega on to show a mate how I'd broken it and its working just the outer glass cracked is it possible toreplace that? Hi, How long have you had your Vega? I did the very same as you 2 days ago, dropped and badly cracked screen. I bought it on March 13th with the Whatever Happens insurance which was £65. BUT... when I took it back to PC World they didn't know I already had the insurance and said as I had only owned the tablet for 3 months I could still buy the insurance for £65 for 2 years cover or pay for monthly cover at £4.50 per month. They said if I did that I should wait 30 days then take it back, something to do with cover starting later than purchase date of tablet. Of course I then told them I already had cover. Might be worth a try, good luck if you go for it. Edited June 19, 2011 by Dexyatboxy
