I'd say SS RLS5 is the best.

The FLB based one's are also meant to be excellent as well but I haven't tried any of those for myself.

FLB variants are nice stable, fast ROMs for most people with excellent battery life. Try the ROMs and ROM Customisation sub-forum, there are dozens of threads on this topic alone.

why staying stuck in 2.2?

2.3 offers more speed in the cost of nothing!

bugs are almost non existent by now so it's soooo close to "stable".

I've been using SS for 2 months and had enough of it.. using Cyanogen Green v5 now and it's awesome!

think about upgrading..

if not try the FLB and FLB variations before trying SS. FLB seems more fast and battery efficient.

I've owned my blade and used it regularly for 3 months now and put FLB R11 on it on the day I got it. I've never had a single issue (a few force closes here and there, though I'd assume those are the guilty app's fault), and battery life is great. ;)

does it offer adhoc connection as well?

I'm still using Seb's De-Softened version of 2.2

I'm aware of later versions of 2.2, such as Swedish Spring and FLB RLSwhatever etc, but my phone does everything I want it to without any glitches or battery problems so I can't bring myself to make the small amount of effort required to upgrade.

For similar reasons, I can't be bothered to upgrade to 2.3. Maybe once a version comes out which has all the glitches solved, I might. However, if something does the job it's supposed to, there needs to be a real strong selling point for me to upgrade to a something else.

I personally use MoDaCo's own R12 2.2 Froyo ROM and find it very good, only bug I have found is that overnight it has a 50/50 chance of turning the screen off (just the screen, the buttons still function and light up etc) and requiring a quick removal-replace of battery. Was using CM7.0.3 but it is overflowing with bugs, shame really as I really want Gingerbread ;)

I have a gen 1 orenage san fransico and I want the best most stable 2.2 rom i've heard that japenease jellyfish is good but Swedish Spring RLS5 is said to be the best at http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/android/h...-install-a-rom/

Sorry if this is a noob question but i cant seem to see the answer in the stickies

thanks

Having used quite a few, Swedish Spring is probably best or the newer Portuguese Spring which is based on the same.

JJ and FLB are both based on older stock rooms are neither are being worked on anymore so I'd discount them.

Are you using a Gen1 or Gen2 Blade?

How would that affect me? The phone does everything I want it to do. It seems odd to discard something that works. I can only imagine that some app may be brought out in future which doesn't work on a 2.2 ROM but I am struggling to find a reason to dismiss these ROMs.

I agree. I've been using FLB Froyo since I first got my blade 3 months ago and it does everything I need it to do. It's stable and has good battery life and I didn't have to worry about converting my phone from GEN1 to GEN2. I've not yet found a convincing reason to change to another ROM.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Swedish Spring ROM is based on TELE2 in sweden's Android 2.2 rom, whereas FLB is based on ZTE's Chinese ROM?

I've never used Swedish Spring, but newer (and in this case only newer to us) isn't always better.

You will get many different answers to your questions as it is all personal preferences. I would recommend trying a few different ROMs and i would also give CM7 a shot as well, I've been using it for the past month now and there doesn't seem to be any more bugs than the 2.2 ROMs I've tried

I have cycled through quite a few now both jj and ss roms are good and they are the only ones that seem to play MKV files but the quadrant scores are like 400 and the it doesnt seem to have the 3d app drawer which runs really smooth in comparsion to the non 3d.

FLB and modacos own is good but neither seem to be able to play mkv files with any video player and on mondacos one the top level screen brightness seems less than the other roms but both get quadrant scores around 781. so im still undecided on which to choose any further suggestions are welcome.

Thanks all

As others have said; it depends on what you use your phone for and your own personal preferences. First thing I did when I got my Blade was install Seb's de-softened (still don't know what that means) ROM because it was the one linked to on the guide I used. After a couple of months I installed FLB11b and was amazed how much smoother the scrolling was and how much more responsive it seemed. The biggest difference I noticed was that GPS would fix within a few seconds where it would take a good five minutes when using Seb's ROM. I decided to try Swedish Spring 5 recently but found moving between launch screens a lot more laggy, the battery did not seem to last as long (even after recalibration) and the touch screen seemed to have 'sticky' patches (making it feel much less responsive). I am now back on FLB11b and will stay with it until people report decent battery life on CM7.

The main thing that bothers me about both FLB11b and SS5 is that when I change the orientation of the phone there is a delay of nearly two seconds before the screen rotates. This happened almost instantaneously on Seb's ROM. I don't know if this is something to do with using Launcher Pro, though. I never used it with Seb's ROM and have not yet experimented with any other launchers.

Edit: Haver just looked at the original thread about Seb's ROM and one of the early comments complains about an "overactive screen rotation", so maybe it's just that other people's preferences are different to mine. :-)

The first couple of months that I had my Blade I tried almost every ROM possible.

I've been using SS RLS5 for the last month or so and I'm very happy with it. I would recommend it.

I haven't tried CM7 for a while, so I'm sure it's a lot more stable now, but if you want 2.2 then go for SS.

Use stock unbranded 2.2 (There is a link in wbaw's stock rom thread).

Erm yes, battery ;)

I get the same battery usage, SS RLS5 vs CM7 Green v5.
