Guest eaglehay42 Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Being 58, I am terrified by the idea of trying to root my phone. Does anyone provide this service if I am willing to pay?
Guest wrtease Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 rooting your phone wont brick it. plus you need to unlock it first. then decide what you want to do. if you decide to add a rom then please read on forum before you add a rom. many users have changed the way the mobile looks and works . okay.

I have unlocked the phone. Its the next steps I am concerned about. There seem to be people on this site who thrive on all the techie jargon having been brought up with it. I started with slide rules and tables and as said before feel very afraid and confused re rooting, getting rid of the orange rubbish and installing the latest firmware. There must be someone out there who I could send the phone to for the updates? Edited June 13, 2011 by eaglehay42
Guest flshg Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 In my opinion you should go for it and follow the well written guides to do this yourself, then ask here if you have any questions or are uncertain about how to do something. You will learn a lot from this process and thus be able to make better use of your phone. At the very worst, if you brick the phone, its not exactly expensive to replace. Its always best to backup your important data as thats probably worth more.

Having been made redundant I can ill afford the risk of bricking it and replacing it. I live in the midlands and willing to travel and pay a modest fee to get it sorted please.
Guest mikeeo19 Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 Hello Eaglehay42! I was in the same boat with you when i got my Blade :) It felt really confusing to hear/read about rooting, changing roms etc. But the first thing is that rooting is very simple, and SAFE. There's no way you can destroy your phone by doing it. Download Z4root. When you open the app, you'll see a screen like this: Don't be afraid! Really B) When you get to know the world of Android's customisation you'll never need anything else :D
Guest flshg Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Just to avoid any confusion, that same app might show a different set of options i.e. temporary root / permanent root, so just pick permanent root. I say this because on a different phone it shows two options, but that might be due to different z4root version or phone.
