Screen going blank when answering calls

I have Swedish Spring rom and during calls the screen goes blank (it just blackens out). I try using the power button but nothing happens until the other person cuts the phone. Just now someone accidentally called me and I received the call but there was no way for me to end the call. I had to take the battery out to end the call. How can I correct this.

I am also wondering do I need an anti virus app on the phone since I use the internet sometimes?

You could try a different ROM such as FLB.

And no so long as you don't go downloading questionable .apk files.

Agreed but I like too keep lookout just in case.
