Guest richardcbristol Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I'm running Trips 1.6.1 froyo build with BB49. I generally get under 24 hours of battery life out of it with a little bluetooth music (30 minutes or so), a similar amount of wifi and on 3G all the time as my main work phone so a fair bit of telephone calls. I've always noticed a decent drop in battery overnight, even if I turn off data. (usually between 15 and 30%, sometimes more). I've been playing with a new battery monitoring app "Battery Dr to Save Battery by ipop Dev". Last night I charged the battery fully from about 15% to 100% whilst running this app. Did a bit of facebook / twitter etc. on 3G before heading to bed where I turned off data and noted the battery was at 97%. I woke up a good 8+ hours later and checked battery. Still 97%! Never had that happen before! It's now 12:30 the next day and it's been quiet at work (no calls so far, data has remained off). Checked my facebook and twitter feeds this morning on 3G before turning data back off when I went down to breakfast. Battery is now showing 92%. Haven't played and music today over bluetooth or otherwise but even so I've never managed only 8% battery drain on standby in ~18 hours before. Obviously a fair bit of that saving is coming with having data switched off but I was surprised. rich

Guest richardcbristol Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 +Battery calliberation ;) Yeah but I've done plenty of complete discharge / charge cycles with this battery (had it a year come July) and never had this kind of performance before. Strange. Now showing 88% and had it with 3G on (although everything is set to only poll manually) since I posted last. It'll probably start to plummet in an hour or two :-) rich
Guest richardcbristol Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 51% at 11pm. Data off. 49% at 7am. So far so good!
Guest PhrozenFear Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Now, here's a thing to check - how does it handle if you instead use Wifi instead of 3G ? I can't do a lot of 3G, since my plan is garbage (500MB a month only, with almost 1$ / MB after that).
Guest rdannar Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 the x10 is known to have huge battery drain for its data and gsm whenever you are not all full strength. example if you have full bars of data in status bar you will have double the battery life if you have 1 bar of gsm/data in status bar
