Hi, I'm wondering whether anyone's written a guide explaining how to perform a full TPT backup of a phone. I realise you can backup just the ROM and apps using Clockwork Recovery. However, for peace of mind, I'd like to be able to backup absolutely everything. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Not possible. Nothing we can run on a phone can access the location where the firmware is stored.

Well it must be possible (although probably risky) because some ROMs are supplied as TPT files.

The phone has low level flashing abilities which are able to flash the firmware (TPT, windows flashing). These methods are also able to flash the ROM. When you install a ROM as a TPT, it includes both firmware (.mbn files) and a ROM(.img files). By the time the ROM is loaded, the firmware is hidden and cannot be read. The only way to make a TPT backup would be to make a completely rewritten version of the firmware which either made a backup without loading a ROM or didn't hide the firmware partitions. Both of these are extremely unlikely.

You can backup most of the files using QPST (Download mode hold volume + and volume - without the battery)

(I am hoping to talk someone through doing this to get the skate amss.mbn at some point).

You cannot flash with QPST though.

(Might be able to do it with PSAS as well I am not sure).

Nothing in there seems capable of reading anything from the phone except the NV memory.
