Guest Deoxyribonucleic_Acid Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 I can't download from Planet3 as they claim my device is unsupported (LG P-990), however it will work and I'm running on a 3 sim. Does anyone have the .apk and could they upload it? Also, while I'm here, does anyone know how to set an app to only use the 3G connection, even if a wifi connection is present? Thanks in advance, ~~DNA
Guest flshg Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I'm getting the same issue with downloading from 3. I've tried choosing lots of different phones in the my3 settings but will always say its unsupported. I also had someone upload skype from 3 for me and that works fine. For the issue with wifi 3g, I think android will always favour wifi over 3g. What you could to is install droidwall from the market. This is a firewall app, and you can set which apps can use wifi or 3g, so you can disable wifi for that app, but allow 3g.
Guest Deoxyribonucleic_Acid Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 That's because it doesn't work out what phone you have from there, oddly enough. I believe they find it in the user agent string. Or more likely some sort of data the get from your sim over a 3G connection. That is why you can only access My3 over 3G not WiFi. And they compare this against a list of phones they support, and if it's an uncommon phone, or one that isn't branded by 3, then it flags it as unsupported. I'll look into droidwall. Thanks
Guest Hauzer Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Eventually (or at the moment), 3 are planning to drop support for free MSN Messenger. Therefore they are limiting the number of devices which can download the application, I can no longer download it on my Symbian device, and unfortunately do no have an apk file on Android. You can try download the .apk file using your computer via Wi-Fi. Look up how to change your computer browser's user-agent, and change the agent to your mobile device's or another device which supports 3 MSN Messenger. Then using your phone, turn it into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect your computer to it, and visit Planet 3. Once on Planet 3, browse through and download the apk file. Once done, transfer and install on your Android phone. ;) Hopefully that should work, if not then I can't suggest anything else. ;(
