Looks like my camera has developed a fault.

Well, after almost 9 months of almost flawless operation it looks like my Blade has developed a fault.

When I go to take a picture the display is all grainy and it looks like its only displaying 256 colours (kinda like a very old Pc with no display drivers). The saved picture also looks like this.

I've tried a reboot and also a complete wipe with a different custom ROM and the faults still there.

It looks like I might need to take it back to the Hereford Orange shop for a replacement. But seeing as I have a OLed I might wait till the Skate comes out and play my face a bit to get an upgrade.

Anyone else suffered from this problem?

Not had this, could try one of the camera apps from the market, sounds odd though as it's recurred with new rom.

Think it'd require quite some impressive facework to get that upgrade

Heres some examples:

A camera app from the market didnt make any difference. Plus its also knackered when using 3rd party apps like Fatbooth & Barcode Scanner.

I'm well within my rights to ask for an exact mode lreplacement if my phone is faulty. If they cannot offer me a direct like for like (the TFT model is not like for like) then they must offer me credit of a product that is of equal or better value. I will wait for the Skate to come out & just pay the difference.

Good luck with that, don't think they'll agree about tft not being like for like tbh.

Look at it this way: If you bought a TV which one of reasons was that it had an amazing display & it developed a fault, would you be happy to accept a replacement that had an inferior display??

Not me you have to convince, and many here have said they aren't that different. Plus whether you are happy to accept it is another issue. At nine months they may even want to try fixing it first.

Think one of the roms has been trying out new drivers though, which roms did you try?

Apparently the OLED screen can be placed onto a TFT model, if you really want to keep the screen you could take two OSFs apart and swap the screens. Although that's going to void the warranty. Personally, I don't think they'll have the camera part to replace and will most likely just send you a TFT model instead. Maybe you could sell off your OSF somewhere and use the money to get another device?

The Skate most likely won't have an AMOLED screen and seems to sport the same CPU as on the Blade.

Pretty sure its a hardware fault rather than a ROM issue as I've been using FLB v6 for months & its been great then yesterday i came across the fault.

Tried FLB 10b from fresh its still there.

Because I purchased the phone from a shop I can play my face a bit - most shops dont like customers doing this & try to sort things out asap, its bad for business if people see other people unhappy with service/goods.

As long as the Skate can do flash (bit debate currently on going whether it can) i dont mind it having a TFT screen. I would consider it an upgrade over the Blade

Have you tried lgcamera? Most camera apps simply wrap around the default camera libs (such as how miren browser just uses the built in browser's html engine).

nahh - still FUBARed!!

Definately a hardware fault. Can live without the camera until Skate arrives.
