Hi guys!

I'm making a debranded ROM, based on a stock one. I've removed and changed things I don't want. I have some questions though:

  1. The stock market does not work on converted Gen1 devices. As the stock ROM is Gen2, the market app is probably intended to be used only on Gen2 devices. I want the ROM to work with Gen1 too. Android version is 2.2
  2. How do I change/add shortcuts on the homescreen so that they will be there when the user first turns on the phone?
  3. How do I change the default input method when the user first switches on the phone?
Thanks in advance! Edited by Puzzles

3) I think you could put the APK into system so it's the default IME (and remove the other one)

2) + 3) both can be done by modifying the /system/app folder.

for 2) put in your launcher eg laucncher pro (and delete the stock one) and then go have a look inside the app for the folder that contains the homescreen icons. (i.e when you first install a launcher, a few icons like market and messages will already be on the homescreen) then add more here. then sign it and put it back. please note widgets will not work

for 3) like the above post sez, just replace the stock imput method with your own. if you do this right it will pick your new (and only) input method

Thanks! But how can I replace the market when if I take it from CyanogenMod it does not even install?

Edit: Will try the one which comes with Swedish Spring and see what happens.

Edit 2: Works!

And another question - how to make the phone rooted out-of-the-box? By just including Superuser?

in short no. superuser app just makes use of root rights and can grant or deny applications from using root.

your question is a bit more complicated. I'm wondering if it would be easier for you to start with a rom that has the basics and then change it to how you like (eg a rooted stock rom)?

1. Has nothing to do with gen1 or gen2.
