Guest virtual_reality_me Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Hello! I just got the Blade and now I need to accessorise the bejeeus out of it! Does anyone have any recommendations for: - a car dock so it can be used for navigation - some kind of dock/cradle to place on my desk - a case (not a silicone cover) Preferably on Amazon.co.uk. I did a quick search on Google and this forum before posting but there doesn't seem to be too much in the way of ideas ): Thank you!
Guest k0zmic Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 A case as in a leather one or something? Seen this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leather-Flip-Carry...9004&sr=8-1 Play.com have a nice one, although it's silicon it's very good quality.
Guest Yuccaman Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 For a car dock, I would recommend either a Nokia CR-115 or CR-122 I have the CR-122 and works well for me...... CR-115 may impact your volume buttons apparently. There is an old thread here about car mounts.... http://android.modaco.com/content/forum/32...n-mount-for-sf/ You could always use the CR-122 mount and fix it on your desk as well ;)
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Please note I use an iPod Touch 2G flip leather case (bought from poundland) works wonders.
Guest Pondlife Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Which seems odd as I've an ipod touch 2g/3g case that doesn't even come close to fitting. ;)
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 (edited) Which seems odd as I've an ipod touch 2g/3g case that doesn't even come close to fitting. ;) It's not exactly snug, it's rather lose but does what I need Edit: found it via google http://www.exspect.co.uk/products/80/iPod-...rotective-Case/ Edited June 15, 2011 by ColdEmbrace
Guest Tony Sidaway Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 A desktop mount might be nice I suppose, but now I think of it I usually just prop it against the front of my computer and turn the clock application on. The matt finish of the case presents enough friction to keep it upright.
Guest Roph Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I have a blob of blu-tack on my desk that I've moulded to fit the blade ;) I couldn't really get a USB cable into it though, to provide charging / transfer :P
Guest Sanddancer75 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 The accessories thread is a nightmare to read through. I bought this car dock for £2.40 on eBay & it was a bargain: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT You get a sticky rubber pad so you can get it to stick to your dashboard, you can rotate it, tilt it, swivel it & it doesn't block any buttons or USB port.

That's the one I got. It seems okay in a 'normal' car but it shakes to the point of being annoying in my MX-5. My Navigo satnav holder has no issues though so I am looking for a more stable holder.

Guest Searcher2 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I am not sure what a suction cup is. I guess it is the way the unit fixes to the car screen.... but the unit has a good suction to the screen.... the vibration of the car (which is not noticable to me) causes the unit to wobble. As mentioned it is okay in a 'normal' car with more dampened suspension but with the roadster uneven ground translates into juddering. If you have a link to a suction cup that can solve it then great but I feel that I may be edging towards an Arkon iPhone 4 Slimgrip car holder for a shade over £10

That the one you're looking at? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Arkon-Slimgrip-car-h...=item3a66f0ac00 Looks like it could be pretty stable as the arm can be tightened. Might look into one of those for my desk if i can mount it upside down
Guest Searcher2 Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Yes - that's the one. Also available about the same price from several vendors on Amazon. Reviews there (on both UK and US Amazon) are good and there are a couple of good reports in the "holder" thread on this forum. In my existing holder ... there are a couple of screws but they seem to be tightened as much as they will go.
