Guest beegee1962 Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 I have a Viewpad 10s with internal 3G/GPS modem. I am running CorvusKernel 0.2 (non AOSP version) and my own ROM Ganbarou V 1.0. But the same problem happens with other ROMs. The GPS never finds a fix, so I started investigations, special because other users of my ROM report that the GPS is working for them. I started logcat immediately after booting of the tablet starts and get the following: (Filtered to show only GPS related messages) 08:20:23.671 Debug gps_hw 1083 gps_get_hardware_interface: called 08:20:24.218 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_init: called 08:20:24.218 Debug gps_hw 1083 GPS-V100R001B001D01SP00C03 08:20:24.218 Error gps_hw 1083 could not open gps serial device /dev/ttyUSB3: Permission denied 08:20:24.218 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_init fail ! 08:20:24.218 Warning GpsLocationProvider 1083 Failed to enable location provider 08:20:28.156 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_init: called 08:20:28.156 Debug gps_hw 1083 GPS-V100R001B001D01SP00C03 08:20:28.156 Error gps_hw 1083 could not open gps serial device /dev/ttyUSB3: Permission denied 08:20:28.156 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_init fail ! 08:20:28.265 Warning GpsLocationProvider 1083 Failed to enable location provider 08:20:44.359 Debug GpsLocationProvider 1083 NTP server returned: 1308180045574 (Thu Jun 16 08:20:45 GMT+09:00 2011) reference: 81720 certainty: 160 system time offset: 8114 08:20:44.359 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_inject_time: called 08:20:44.359 Debug gps_hw 1083 hw_gps_get_extension: called 08:20:44.359 Debug gps_hw 1083 GPS_XTRA_INTERFACE Anybody has an idea why the access to the GPS communication port is denied?
Guest trevor432990 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Hiya ... not familiar with internal GPS systems but maybe you have the same timing problems as external devices so why not try downloading the GPS On/off widget I have mentioned previously in my GPS threads and see if that makes any difference. Worth a try anyway ;)

Worth a try anyway ;) Tried it already. Not working. The problem occurs long before Android is showing the lock screen. Must be somewhere deep in the system or kernel. Maybe my 3G/GPS modem is slower during initializing than others. I know another user on a German forum who has the same problem.
