Guest ZTEBladeJRB Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) Will CM7 work on a gen 1 smoothly. I run swed at the moment and just looking for the best rom for it Cheers Edited June 16, 2011 by ZTEBladeJRB
Guest hugobosslives Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 yes it will run smoothly but only n39 and b4 will work on gen1. these are old nightlies so in order for to run the latest cm7 you must either use the converter if you want to stay gen1 however you will not get the latest kernel updates doing this. or (and i strongly recommend) you can upgrade to gen2 and then install the latest nightly. use wbaws pinned tpt Gen2 thread to do this.
Guest Swimmerboy Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 use wbaws pinned tpt Gen2 thread to do this. Agreed, TPT update to Gen2 is completely painless. Just extract a bunch of files onto your SD card, reboot holding a couple of buttons and it's done ;)
Guest Atomix86 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 CM7 is still very buggy no matter which nightly you use, I personally would not recommend dropping Swedish Spring RLS5 for it.
Guest winckler Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I would. +1 if you use it with Launcherpro, for me adw is so laggy..
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Nightly 102 works well (converted the phone with wbaw method) Phone run fast with launcher pro. Minnor bugs but nothing to worry
Guest Konstipated Kiwi Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 CM7 is still very buggy no matter which nightly you use, I personally would not recommend dropping Swedish Spring RLS5 for it. I was under the impression you can still use SS5 with GEN2 phones. Is that not so?
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 yes no problem with SS5 run well in gen2 phones i have a nand backup of SS5 and a nand backup of CM7 gen2
Guest hugobosslives Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) CM7 is still very buggy no matter which nightly you use, I personally would not recommend dropping Swedish Spring RLS5 for it. this noob clearly hasn't used cm7 in the last month. I have used it since rc1. never gone back as its so much better. I agree at first (in March) there were issues that you might not wana have to deal with In a day to day rom. however nothing major since n35. and hardly any minor niggles since late n70s. now its pretty much perfect. bring on cm8. mmm ice cream sandwich ;) Edited June 16, 2011 by hugobosslives
Guest Simon O Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 this noob clearly hasn't used cm7 in the last month. Really no need for that kind of insult, however light it may seem to you.
Guest Atomix86 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Throwing out childish insults to cover your own insecurities does not change the fact CM7 is bug filled. Its ok for children messing around or using Facebook for a bit but for someone who needs a reliable device for their work day, then staying on the stable 2.2 ROMs is a no brainier.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Cm7 is apparently Filled with bugs, as cited hergand elsewhere, but nothing has effected me for over a month, expect USB mounting. (Which seems flakey, and I think it might be my PC's fault)
Guest Pondlife Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Not had any more problems using gen2 cm7 than I did with gen1 SS and it seems faster, haven't used usb mounting since I found Android Sync Manager Wifi so can't comment on that.
Guest k0zmic Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 CM7 works nearly flawlessly for me, I haven't found any bugs that are 'showstoppers' as such.
Guest hugobosslives Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 yer sorry i take back the noob comment. totally out of character for me. i just get a tad annoyed at how many SS users that tried out cm7 ages ago (or even just heard from others that its "buggy") say its a rubbish rom and is totally unstable. my advice is to try it again as its totally fine (and has been for a while) even using as a everyday rom. my blade is my only (working) phone, so i need it to be completly usable and reliable. and in short it is just this. i would not use cm7 if it wasn't stable. i have had only two reboots since going gen2. (n40+). and surely even on SS you get occasional reboots. and considering mine is OCed as well i'm very happy with this.
Guest k0zmic Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 i just get a tad annoyed at how many SS users that tried out cm7 ages ago (or even just heard from others that its "buggy") say its a rubbish rom and is totally unstable. That's quite true. The thing is, those who typically have the problems are the ones who probably don't full wipe or read the instructions and then go saying it's 'rubbish' or 'unstable'. It irks me a bit as well but it's not really worth getting annoyed about ;).
Guest hugobosslives Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 agreed. now can we please move on as I don't like that this is my first thread I've screwed up by over reacting. sorry to the guy I called a noob. your entitled to your opinion on the buggyness of cm7 (tho I impore you to checkout the latest nightlies, I'm still on a self build around n89 as I can't find anything wrong with it so no point in upgrading....) and can we just conclude that the OPs best option would be to tpt upgrade to gen2. but it is possible to run cm7 on gen1 via the converter. both threads can be found by searching ;) cheers hugo
Guest Christian Edwards Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Used SS RLS5 but its missing the Power Control Widget in the notification bar which I got used to in FLB. So I used the TPT to update to udpate my phone to GEN2 easy. Since then I've run CM7.03 'Stable' It did sfuffer a couple of reboots starting GPS apps which was annoying but not too bad in 2 weeks use. Tried PS RLS3b for a bit but really settled on CM7 Green (V5 naked version) which is based on a nightly build but I've not had any problems at all. No Reboots, GPS works great and you get all the updates Android 2.3.4 brings I'll never go back to SS. 2.2 is just for stock Desire users!
