Guest eliteDNA Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Hi, i am a novice when i comes to modifications and tricks using the OSF. Basically i had rooted the OSF about 2 months ago and it was working well, with launcher pro, and jap jellyfish. I was using clockwork recovry to install the different customs roms, but settled on jap jel rsl9. Then today, i lloked at my phone after a while of it being in my pocket and it was off adnd wouldnt turn on. Came home and charged it then turned it one and booted up but with only my background, nothing else... I then used clockwork recovery to try and install the ROM again, wiping cache and data each time. But i get this error: assert failed: package_extract_file("boot.img"."/tmp/boot.img") E:Error in /sdcard/Japanes_Jellyfish_RSL9.zip (status 7) INstallation aborted This happened with several different ROMs And when i try and boot up it freezes on green android man screen. The only way to power off is to take the battery out. Thank you for an help

Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 OK, do you know what generation your device is? Gen1 or Gen2?
Guest eliteDNA Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) OK, do you know what generation your device is? Gen1 or Gen2? Im pretty sure its gen 1 , because i checked when i rooted it... Edited June 17, 2011 by eliteDNA
Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) Download this and place it on your SD card (not in a .zip, but the folder called image). Turn on your phone while holding Power, Menu and Volume Up. With a bit of luck, some green text will appear. Once this is complete, your phone will be updated to Gen2 so you can use the latest Roms, and it will also have Cyanogen on it. You can overwrite it with another Gen2 rom if you want. Guest eliteDNA Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) CyanogenMod 7.0.3 Gen1->Gen2 TPT SPAM/api/click?format=go...0here%3C%2Fb%3E SPAM/api/click?format=go...&txt=mirror Sorry to be such a bother but...so after i do this, do i still install new ROMs by using clockwork recovery? adnd do i have to download didfferent roms? And what happenes if this doesnt work? and do i have to make a folder called 'image'? Edited June 17, 2011 by eliteDNA
Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 After this, you will have Clockwork, and your phone will act like a Gen2 one. It comes with Cyanogen, but if you do not like it, you can install other Gen2 roms on top of it. If you want to revert back to Gen1, you can just install this; SPAM/api/click?format=go...1.zip%3C%2Fb%3E SPAM/api/click?format=go...&txt=mirror And your phone will be Gen1 again. You can then install Gen1 roms over the bundled Cyanogenmod 7.0

Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Open the zip file; that folder called image; just copy it onto the SD card.
Guest eliteDNA Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Open the zip file; that folder called image; just copy it onto the SD card. I manged to get it to work and it came up with tht setup wizard, but its very buggy and keeps on crashing. If i were to try to revert back to gen1, would i use the same method, and just use the image folder from the second link you gave me?
Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) Yes. Remember you can install another Rom if you dislike Cyanogen with clockwork Edited June 17, 2011 by Metroid_Maniac
Guest eliteDNA Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Yes. Remember you can install another Rom if you dislike Cyanogen So atm i will have japanese jellyfish, but im currently gen2. Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Yes; You install that Gen1 TPT, and then use Clockwork to install japanese jelly.

Guest eliteDNA Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Yes; You install that Gen1 TPT, and then use Clockwork to install japanese jellyfish, o maanged to get to the setup wizard, but it crashed every time or forced close to a black screen. Problem is that it just doesnt feeel the same, even when i use clockwork recovery to mount the sd card, sometimes it might crash or the computer shows an error whilst copying over. Is there any way i could just completely factory reset, and could the problem be in the sd card? Thanks for al l the help so far
