Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 I wanted to get rid of the stock orange rom and decided to download cyanogen 7.0.3 and put the correct gen1 clockwork recovery on, went into clockwork recovery and did the whole backup thing then cyanogen was installed, the phone rebooted and now all i get is the green android flashing every 5 seconds or so, can't seem to get back into clockwork either any help would be muchly appreciated thanks in advance
Guest Michealtbh Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 CM7 is gen2, you need to upgrade your phone to gen2 before flashing
Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 You should find a Gen1->Gen2 TPT on the forums, use the CM 7.0.3 ver of that.
Guest Michealtbh Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Also, use one of the latest Nightlys rather than 7.0.3, that's old and buggy
Guest Metroid_Maniac Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Yeah, use the nightly CM7-104 version of Gen1->Gen2 TPT
Guest swisstourist Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 if u see soemthing on the screen ,means it s not bricked!!!

Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Okay guys, first of all thanks for replying, I would have got back to you sooner but i was working. since getting back from work I have managed to get into clockworkmod recovery and restore the stock orange 2.1 rom (phew) but I havn't been deterred yet. I downloaded a package from this site that is supposed to convert the device from gen1 to gen2 and whack cyanogenmod 7.0.3 on at the same time but it did nothing. it seams holding vol+ and powering on does nothing on my phone. getting into clockworkmod redovery requires that i hold vol- and power ??? any help would be much appreciated so thankyou :)
Guest Pondlife Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Some need menu as well as volume to be pressed. Have you checked the md5 of the files? Did it make the image directory on the sd card?
Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 When I tried to use the 7.0.3 with TPT gen2 upgrade built in i unrar'd it and just used windows file browser to drag and drop it on, is that where i went wrong ? I have been checking the MD5 codes too. I managed to get the de-oranged version of 2.1 eclair that we have on these forums on and even that is noticeably quicker on the blade, but I still want MORE! lol Any suggestions for getting the most out of my phone ? thanks again guys looking to get a subscribed account on here when i get paid :)
Guest Pondlife Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Most of the attention on the forum at the moment seems to be on the newly provided zte gingerbread which came out of the blue and seems to have great potential. Keeping my eye on that. Did you take the files out of the image directory? If they are on the sd card and in the image directory then try again with "menu" held as well as volume up whilst you power on. It didn't change to gen2 which is why you could put the gen1 deoranged one on.

Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Thanks Curl66 and Pondlife I seem to be having a problem with the phone staying on, I leave it in my pocket or in my locker at work and sometimes when i go to use it i press the power key to wake it and nothing, then have to remove the battery to get it to start again. is this a hardware problem and do I need to get it exchanged for another device do you think ? Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Well curiosity got the better of me (usually does) Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 is now on my phone :) thanks for all your help, now hopefully the little problem i was having with it powering down will have gone too
Guest Michealtbh Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 The power bug you describe was a known issue in CM7.0.3. I suggest you update to the latest Nightly, it's almost perfectly stable

I suggest you update to the latest Nightly, it's almost perfectly stable Erm think he had the power problem on the rom before cm7, the de-oranged version of 2.1 eclair but I'd agree about changing to a nightly or maybe the zte gingerbread.
Guest Carlsberg Extort Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 this problem with the phone shutting down has been happening since I got it. on 2 different ROM's (stock 2.1 and de-oranged) so far so good on CM7.0.3 I cant get onto the nightly builds download page on Cyanogenmods website is it down for maintenance ?
