Guest tschooper Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Hi, I have just loaded CM7.02 stable on my Blade Gen1 but I am not able to recalibrate my proximity sensor and my phone goes blank when calling and do not come back. I have tried to access calibration page using code *983*0# but there is "connection problem or invalid MMI code" on the screen... so I have tried to put phone in to engineering mode to unlock secret dialler codes by dialling *ZTE*OPENEM# (*983*673636#)... but I have the same message! Does anyone know how to sort this issue out? Thx in advance P.S. I was able to calibrate the sensor on Swedish Spring RLS5 so I know that proximity sensor should work.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 This is a known issue in Cm7 Fix it by checking "proximity always on" in call settings. Otherwise try updating to gen 2(dead easy and safe via TPT) and installing a later version of Cm7.
Guest tschooper Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) well... by loading CM7.0.2 stable my mobile has been updated to Gen2... can you post the link with the latest version? Edited June 18, 2011 by tschooper
Guest k0zmic Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) I've had the same problem on all CM nightlies for a long time. Also, I get it on that official ZTE Gingerbread ROM released today. Yet, it works on SS and Stock 2.1. It seems like a Gingerbread problem for a minority of users. Before you install full wipe and go into mounts and storage and format system. The latest recommended version is N104: http://goo-inside.me/cm/blade/nightly/cm_blade_full-104.zip Post back if it still makes the screen turn off please. I will make a bug report when 7.1 stable comes out. Edited June 18, 2011 by k0zmic

The latest version shows automatically in the cm7 thread (check Roms and rom customization sub forum) And you said gen1 blade...(and i have no idea where 7.0.2 comes in the timescale of the switch from gen1 to gen2 in cm7 - you could have been using kk's converter too)

Is there any soft in market to calibrate the sensor?

Is there any soft in market to calibrate the sensor? No, believe me I've looked for every solution :). My only recommendation would be revert to N98. During a call if you press the Menu button you can wake the screen. This seems like a Gingerbread problem in general. Also, around what month did you buy your phone e.g. end of April or early March etc? If so do you know what Stock firmware it shipped with e.g. B10? This information will help identify which if any models have the problem. Mine also worked on SS and Stock 2.1 Edited June 18, 2011 by k0zmic

Mine also worked on SS and Stock 2.1 I bought it end of May... from one of online shops - so I do not know how long they had it on stock before shipping. Unfortunately do not remember what stock firmware was. BTW... I can not download N98 from this link http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nigh...mp;device=blade - I have a message: The requested URL /cm/nightly/blade/cm_blade_full-98.zip was not found on this server B) Do you know any other sites I can download from?? What are you using at the moment? Is it N98?? Edited June 18, 2011 by tschooper

Guest k0zmic Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 N98: http://www.wuala.com/k0zmic/Public/cm_blade_full-98.zip/
Guest tschooper Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) N98: http://www.wuala.com/k0zmic/Public/cm_blade_full-98.zip/ I did wipes and format... installed N98 and still the same - menu button does not work for me... I set keep screen awake in call settings but this does not do anything as well - It goes off just after I press call button - do not have to rise it up to my ear - maybe it is not the proximity?. What can I try else before come back to SS? BTW I bought my phone from pre pay mania as well Edited June 19, 2011 by tschooper
Guest k0zmic Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Odd, it should. Yeah I've tried that as well, you didn't tick always use proximity? I'm 95% sure it is. You can test with an app called Elixir from the Market. Download > Click on Sensors tab and test if the Proximity can sense your finger by moving it back and forth from it. After that I don't know what else you can do other than go back to SS. Ahh that does help, maybe just a coincidence. Maybe they had slightly bad stock? BTW, When you press Menu you have to press it twice successively then it should work. I just tested, sorry I didn't explain well the first time. Edited June 19, 2011 by k0zmic

I am testing sensor on Elixir now... well it seems like does not work correctly. I mean definitely it does not work continuously when it pick up the value 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5cm then does not refresh the value until I switch it off and put on again... but sometimes it does not pick up anything just shows "-" until I put it off and on again.

That's exactly what happens when I test. If you have the time Nandroid your current ROM and try the official Gingerbread ROM by Wbaw. I suspect you will encounter the same problem but it's worth a go.
Guest tschooper Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 I have just loaded Swedish Spring again... proximity sensor works fine... moreover I did not have to calibrate it.
Guest k0zmic Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 I have just loaded Swedish Spring again... proximity sensor works fine... moreover I did not have to calibrate it. I know it's very odd. I did a logcat of it a while ago and it said something about not being able to find proximity thresholds.
Guest k0zmic Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) @ OP I just went flashing around half a dozen or so different ROM's. I tried both Gingerbread leaks, the latest CM Nightly and the FLB based JGM ROM. On all of these the proximity sensor failed to work. However, on SS and stock it seems to be fine. I might ask Prepay-Mania for a replacement. Edited June 20, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest Mahendra Soni Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) Hi Guys, I do have the exactly same proximity sensor issue. But in my case, I never had such a problem with CM7 until I upgraded from 7.0.3 Stable to Nightly #85. Though I always do a full wipe, delete dalvic cache and format system, data and cache. But strangely ever since I upgraded to Nightly #85, I am having this very annoying issue. After that I tried n numbers of tweaks & tricks from various forums to mess with proximity sensor calibration but nothing worked. I tried one more thing. I took Nandroid backup of CM7 ROM of my brother's mobile and restored in my mobile, but it also doesn't work and problem with proximity sensor still persists. I originally have a Gen1 OSF and I use TPT method to switch between Gen1 & Gen2. If I use SS or Stock ROM then proximity sensor works flawlessly. But as I install any ROM from CM7 (no matter Gen1 or Gen2 ROM as well), I have the issue again. Hence I can't use CM7 ROM on my blade. I was wondering if there was some way to install Stock ZTE Dialer onto CM7 ROMs so that we could calibrate the Proximity Sensor and made it work??? Thanks Edited June 21, 2011 by Mahendra Soni
Guest k0zmic Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 Try a more recent nightly like N98 or N108 instead of N85.

Guest k0zmic Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 Yes I have already tried up to N107 but still have the same issue :) Oh I see. Out of interest where did you purchase your phone from? Does the proximity sensor work on Froyo ROM's?
Guest Mahendra Soni Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) Oh I see. Out of interest where did you purchase your phone from? Does the proximity sensor work on Froyo ROM's? I purchased it from Pre_Pay_Mania from UK Yes, the Proximity Sensor works well on Froyo and Orange Stock ROMs Update: I just flashed my OSF with Ginger Stir Fry Beta 3. This ROM has ZTE Stock Dialer. After flashing when I made my first call, I had the same Black / Non-responsive screen problem again. After that I dialed *983*0# and did sensor's calibration. Surprisingly the Proximity Sensor is now working very well as it should. As per my understanding if we can install ZTE Stock Dialer in CM7 ROMs, we can do a sensor calibration and get rid of this problem in seconds. Edited June 23, 2011 by Mahendra Soni

Guest Mahendra Soni Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 So is there any way to have ZTE Stock Dialer on CM7 Gen2 ROMs so that we can use "Engineering Mode" and calibrate the proximity sensor?
