Swype & MIUI (TripNMiui)

First just want to pre-apologize if this was made clear however

I looked around and the two methods I found both were just a bit different for me...most of the steps are the same though. Also if this needs to be moved that's fine...I just want it to be somewhere visible and I'll put up a link in the IRIS topic also.

This is for the TripNMiUI roms that are out for our phones, the given method at the bottom did not work at a certain point and had me playing with the swype installer (and titanium backup) for almost an hour to get this to work:

1. If you don't already have it download Titanium Backup and have it open on the "backup/restore" screen (makes it easier/faster to switch back and forth)

2. Also, if you don't already have it get the swype installer (DO NOTE! That the installer AND the actual Swype apps have been upgraded recently)

3. Install it and/or run it (update it if necessary) and eventually log in.

4. Choose your swype version and download it. (if you don't need other languages choose the english/spanish version...the other one is a larger file)

5. After installing, you should get a screen with 4 buttons...choose "generate license"

6. The next screen should have 3 buttons. Press the first one (which will be greyed out) and switch it to the android keyboard. Press back.

7. Now your back to the 3 buttons choose the second one which takes you to the input settings screen. Now just hold the menu button and QUICKLY switch to titanium when the task switcher comes up.

8. Find swype in your list of apps on the "backup/restore" screen and uninstall it...if you have a backup of the app it's okay just make sure it has a line through it and remember to update your backup after you're successful.

9. Hold the menu button again and QUICKLY switch back to the swype installer. At this point it should still be at the input settings screen, press back once and you should see the installer behaving as if you need to re-download the app. DO IT (may ask you to choose the version again just repeat the same as before)

10. After downloading it again, it should ask you to install it again. Unlike the other methods, actually install it.

11. Next it should ask for your login/pass again, they should already be filled in from the first time you did it. Either way log in again.

12. You should get a screen that says it's trying to generate your license.

13. Now you should be back at the screen with 4 buttons but if you read at the top it says that it is now ready for use. Just back out and you're ready to swype with your MIUI Rom!

I know a lot of steps but I just want to be thorough in describing what you should see. Note that when going back and forth in the recently used app switcher the point of QUICKLY is only due to me experiencing reboots when I took my time. The two times I did this quickly I never had a reboot. If your phone reboots just re-run the swype installer to get to the screen with the buttons if you got to that point or start over from the beginning.

Here is a popular method (That was posted on these forums by Darkoctavius):

1.- download swype installer

2.- log in on installer and download swype

3.- once installed, click on "Generate Licence"

4.- select android keyboard

5.- HERE!! when the installer asks to "disable" swype, push home button, open Titanium Backup and Frezze Swype

6.- go back to swype installer and push back botton, maybe u need to write ur mail and password again, bu when installer shows you a message with something like this "your version need to be replaced" push back button and GO TO TITANIUM BACKUP AND UN-FREZZE swype

7.- open swype installer again and just select swype keyboard

Well the second methods was first found by me when trip released his miui room first on xda...

For gb you only need to do this once and then make a backup using miui backup, next time you install a new gb miui just restore and you'll be good...
