Guest eliteDNA Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 So i have an orange sana francisco that i beilve is bricked using this checker http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-also-the-imei/ , because i did not get the DFU mode. I bought my phone from argos and they saud that they would take the phone and repair it or give me a replacement if unrepairable. At the moment my phone will turn on but when stays at the green android robot. I can also enter clockwrok recovery. I have tried using the Gen1 to gen 2 TPT and back again various times, but it doesnt seem to be working. What im worrying about is that if i give it to argos will it still be repaired or will they be able to to tell that i has been rooted and unlocked? Please help?
Guest k0zmic Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) I don't think they'd be able to tell it's rooted and unlocked. They might just think it's a brick due to a hardware fault of some sort if it doesn't boot past the Android screen. That said, since you can still enter recovery I'm guessing it's not completely bricked, although I'm not sure what else you can do. Someone else might know. Edited June 20, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest Gunnerzz Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Do a wipe/factory reset. Install a stable stock rom using the install form zip. option. and then do a reboot. see if that works Edited June 20, 2011 by Gunnerzz
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Are you sure you're getting into Download mode correctly? If you turn it on with both volume buttons held down, does the red LED flash briefly? If it does then you should be able to revive it with that thread you are talking about. If it doesn't then get a replacement. No-one will know what happened if it wont turn on!
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Could try shoving my old friend tpt on it :L OOOH try the stock orange TPT. No fancy gen flashing or anything before its "all-in-one" And if its still broked after that then it will be completely stock :)
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Well I took a non smart phone HTC Smart (Badly named) back too Argos because it was bootlooping and they sent if for repair it came back "fixed" but was still bootlooping go figure. So i got a free replacement blade. I highly doub't they will even notice.
Guest finbaar Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 This is all good advice. However I will tell my tale. I ran over my Blade on one of those family peddle cars at a farm park. The LCD screen was f~cked but the touch senor worked. I managed to get it back to gen 1 using TPT (I could see the 5 or 6 lines on the extreme left of the screen). For me all the custom ROMs worked but the stock TPT would not. Anyway I did not want to risk 1) the repair centre spotting a custom rom or corrupted stock rom or 2) realising that I had damaged the phone and so refusing to repair under warrenty. Solution (I do not recommend this by the way): Remove sim card, remove memory card and switch phone on. Put in the microwave for 1-2 seconds or until it goes bang. You will then have one totally U/S Blade that will not be repaired. Then you send it off (whilst keeping the original battery etc.). My replacement has just been sent out today.
Guest finbaar Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 naughty...........:) ...but nice. For me at least.
Guest Michealtbh Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 You could also connect a 12v battery between 2 connections e.g. the sd slot and headphone input, that will wreck it good and proper
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 You could also connect a 12v battery between 2 connections e.g. the sd slot and headphone input, that will wreck it good and proper thast boring! it wont go bang!
Guest finbaar Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 thast boring! it wont go bang! Bang indeed. I wasn't expecting it to be so ..... vigorous. They tried to deliver my replacement Blade today but I was at work so I will get it tomorrow. I hope to break my previous record of unlocking, rooting and flashing a Gen 1 ROM of 37 minutes. The 12v battery trick does sound safer as there was a peice of copper wire visible on mine under the battery cover after it's misadventure in the microwave.
