Hi there

I work for a public relations agency that acts on behalf of ZTE in Europe.

Our aim in joining the forum is to be helpful with product, market and technical questions where we can, and to go back to ZTE to get answers where we need to, within the boundaries of what is acceptable/allowable based on ZTE’s standard terms, and/or the terms ZTE has agreed with operators for operator-branded devices.

Pease be patient.. I am here to genuinely try to help, but please understand that at times I might have to say "no" based on those constraints.

Can we have the source for the 2.6.35 Kernel please (as used in Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread)? It is GPL code, so ZTE are required to distribute their modified source code.

Only One Question

When did ZTE build a mobile with snapdragon processor? We love ZTE and here mobiles, but we wait all for an Flash supportet processor. We had many hopes in ZTE Skate, but it will not come with snapdragon.

Hi, it is good news then!

Will we have an official update to Gingerbread in Europe (because there is already a leaked version) ?

Can you tell me why the Froyo (Android 2.2) update did not correct the wifi/bluetooth problem that we have since Eclair (Android 2.1)? It is very annoying when I try to make a call by bluetooth, and I can't make it because the screen is off (the same happens with wifi), this was a known problem on Eclair and should have been corrected on Froyo.

Hi guys - wow, that was quick!

Thanks for the questions - I'll see what we can do to help out.

@seanjacko: your presence here is much appreciated, and I hope you can help us to get the kernel source code released, both for Froyo (2.6.32) and the latest for Gingerbread (2.6.35).

It is capable of playing Flash though (from what I have read) as it is an ARM v7. Look in the Skate thread for more details.

That said, confirmation from ZTE would be appreciated.

Speaking of the Skate, is there anything you can tell us about it? We were originally meant to be seeing it for sale in May this year, correct?

News about its release seems to have dried up :)

Hi,

The main problem I've found with the ZTE\OSF is the lack of accessories there doesn't seem to be a car dock or a desk dock for it :)

Are there any plans to release any or will the skate have more chance of getting some?

worto.

The lack of accessories is a good point.

I wish I had a deck dock that would automatically switch to the clock mode and and a car charger that would turn navigation one. The Blade seems to lack this.

Ohh and a simple hard back cover would rock too.

In March, that release date was changed to 'Summer' :)

Thanks hedgepigdaniel - I will certainly flag this request to ZTE. I can see releasing code is a pretty major bugbear for people.

I'm not sure at all on accessories, it is not something that we usually talk about with ZTE from a PR perspective. However, that doesn't mean there are none in the pipeline. I'll check.

Hi SeanJacko,

Is ZTE looking at selling sim free handsets direct to the public in the United Kingdom, or will we still have to buy network branded handsets?

Do you have any information on the WindowsPhone 7 device or devices ZTE are testing, will they be available this year and has any UK Operator agreed to supply them?

Do Orange have an exclusive on the ZTE Skate in the UK, and will it be available with any other UK network?

Hi Sean.

I would like to ask does ZTE have any plans to sell ZTE Androids with networks in the Republic of Ireland? The ZTE Racer is the only one I know of and that well... ugh (screen).

I had to import my Blade which is unfortunate, however its hardy and reliable so its not as worrysome as I thought.

Oh, and please get ZTE's software engineers to release their latest sources, both for the 2.6.35 kernel and 2.6.32 kernel.

There really is not any common accessories you can find on the market that do not work with OSF.

The specific "functions" you require, IMO, is minority and I do not think a manufacturer would make that to satisfy a minority.

Just IMPROVISE!

There are thousands of common stands you can use and then connect the cable!

If that accessory is important to you, you should buy that phone instead.

Hi,

ZTE Joe / Vodafone 945 / ZTE-U V871 / MTC 945 Glonass / ZTE-C N700 Users also need 2.2 and 2.3 ZTE's Source Code.

For people requesting the 2.6.35 kernel code... until ZTE release a device with Gingerbread on, or provide a downloadable rom update, they do not have to release the code early. Be patient! ZTE have been good in the past by releasing the Froyo kernel code as soon as Froyo devices were on the market. I'm sure they will do the same again.

Guest shadowninty

They never released the latest Froyo kernel source.

Yes we just need a 35 kernel source :)
